Things have gone from bad to worse for the Sacramento King (3-7) and tonight, they face a good basketball team in the Raptors (7-3) and better be prepared. See who we like as our NBA pick.
Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EST tonight at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California. According to 5 Dimes Sportsbook, the Raptors are a 3 point road favorite on the NBA Odds board and the total for the game is 207. Will it be business as usual for Toronto or will the Kings, who have talent, decide to play as a team? We shall see.
"Blame It On "Boogie""
I can't help but laugh as this is a Michael Jackson song and it's also the song that represents DeMarcus Cousins career. Cousins has all of the talent in the world. He could be an elite player, but his immaturity on the court has slowed down his progression and his team's progression. There have been highlights of him arguing, not high-fiving a teammate looking for solidarity, and the Kings record speaks for itself.
Cousins has recently payed for the funeral of a slain football player in the Sacramento area. While this is a very nice thing to do, is this a way to make his reputation improve or a out of the kindness of his heart?
I only mention this because regardless, this is a smart move by Cousins or his agent because Sacrmamento wants him out. He's such a good basketball player yet the proper thing to do for the Kings is to get as much as they can in a trade.
For the season, Cousins is averaging 26.7 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. If only he would concentrate on basketball, the Kings would be a winning basketball team.
More Bad Vibes
I haven't really heard anything about Rajon Rondo having trouble with the Kings, but this is another very talented basketball player that makes players better, ever since his days with the Celtics when he won a championship in 2008, but hasn't gotten along with teammates in the past and is starting to move from team to team.
This is certainly not a good sign. For the season, Rondo has produced offensively, averaging 13.1 points, 9.1 assists, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. Rondo will never be a great offensive player and is a lousy free throw shooter, but when his head is in the game, nobody puts forth more effort than Rajon Rondo and he has a very high basketball I.Q..
Point being, the Kings should be the betting favorites in this game and are just as talented as Toronto. They need to work as a team and keep their minds on basketball and nothing else.
Great But Not Elite
Toronto is one of those teams that's always capable of winning their division, but when it comes to going deep into the playoffs, they fold like a cheap tent. They are somewhat similar to the Atlanta Hawks. That said, where concentrating on their encounter with the Kings and with DeMar DeRozan (20.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists) and Kyle Lowry (19.4 points, 6.6 assists, 5rebounds) and Jonas Valanciunas working as a cohesive unit, they should have no trouble in dealing with the Kings.
Valanciunas has really improved his game this year offensively as his numbers indicate and although he'll have his hands full with DeMarcus Cousins, he will also give Cousins trouble on the defensive end due to his size and the great amount of effort that he put's forth.
The Raptors are the play as both of these teams are on 2 game winning streaks. Toronto is simply a more reliable choice for our NBA Picks.
