The Clippers, 8-2 at home, will be favored by eight points in the NBA odds when the opening tipoff occurs just after 10:30 PM EST. Coming in, L.A. is 18-9 SU and 16-11 ATS and Denver is at 14-11 SU and 12-13 ATS.
If you like the look of a total play instead, you can find the O/U at 205.5 right now. The UNDER is 6-2 in the Clippers' past eight games overall and is 4-1 in Denver's previous five road matchups.
The Nuggets were one of the league's hottest teams back in late November and early December, but they've since come back down to earth a little bit.
They've lost three of their last four games both straight up and against the spread, losing to Phoenix (103-99), Oklahoma City (105-93) and Utah (103-93) while picking up their one win at home over New Orleans (102-93).
Last night's defeat to the Suns was hard to take, considering Denver held the lead for practically the entire game. A 31-17 run in the fourth quarter condemned the Nuggets to the loss and left fans wondering what the heck just happened.
A good team balance was the name of the game for Denver, with six different players scoring in double figures.
J.J. Hickson continued his good play with another double-double (13 rebounds and 14 rebounds), while Ty Lawson had a decent game with 13 points, seven assists, four boards and five turnovers. The Nuggets shot 41.2 percent overall and 23.5 percent from three in the defeat.
Los Angeles Clippers
Off since Wednesday's comfortable win over New Orleans, the Clippers will be nice and rested for tonight's game.
They've won three straight and five of six, with the standout win coming at home over San Antonio (115-92).
In the triumph over the Pelicans, there were a number of terrific individual performances. Chris Paul had 12 points, 11 assists and five boards, Blake Griffin finished with a 21/10/5 line, and DeAndre Jordan scored 14 points to go along with 20 rebounds and five blocks.
The win pushed the Clippers to 10-2 SU and 7-5 ATS at Staples Center for the season. They'll come up against a Nuggets team that's 8-5 ATS on the road so far.
Paul will like his chances of dominating the matchup with Lawson out on the perimeter, given the latter has been struggling recently. Meanwhile, Doc Rivers can expect to get Matt Barnes back after getting clearance to play again following a long layoff with an eye injury.
We don't feel too confident in either side here. The Clippers are playing the better basketball right now, but we're not entirely convinced they should be favored by so many points against a talented and deep Denver team.
So, we are inclined to recommend the OVER that the sportsbooks have set for tonight's tilt in Los Angeles. The Clippers are averaging an impressive 104.3 PPG overall this season, but they've been even better (111.2 PPG) in that department at home.
As for the Nuggets, they're scoring 102.2 PPG on the road and have surrendered 103+ points in three of their last four games.
We're expecting a nice pace to tonight's affair, leading to a lot of easy baskets in transition. Let's roll with the OVER as one of our NBA picks for the day.
Pick: OVER 205.5
