The NBA playoffs continue when Oklahoma City visits San Antonio and one of the more anticipated matchups of the post season. NBA Odds have made the Spurs a favorite at home for game one.

The NBA odds have San Antonio a -6 favorite like at Pinnacle Sports -107. For my NBA pick of the day I'm going to go ahead and take the Spurs laying the number. This will be a much different game than when they faced Memphis and much different for OKC facing Dallas but I like for the Spurs to win by around double digits.

Oklahoma City Thunder
Oklahoma City averaged 110.3 points per game which ranks second in the NBA and took care of Dallas 4-1 in their first series of the playoff. Offensively they were one of the best in the league all season but there are some other statistics that I am really focusing on for this series. OKC ranked first in the NBA averaging 56.9 total rebounds per game which against most opponents would be quite formidable. However, San Antonio ranked first in the league allowing just 47.5 opponent rebounds per game. Another issue will be protecting the ball and OKC has not done a tremendous job of that this season averaging 15.7 turnovers per game which ranks them 26th in the league, conversely San Antonio has been much better protecting the basketball averaging just 13 turnovers per game which ranks them fourth. Pace is a bit of an issue when it comes to turnovers but OKC ranked 24th in the league in turnover percentage and San Antonio ranked eighth in opponent turnover percentage, this will be a point of contention in which San Antonio will have the advantage. OKC is a great offensive team and will try to push the tempo but this will be problematic against the best defense in the league and the team best at controlling pace.

San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio ranks first in the NBA in opponent effective field-goal percentage and shooting efficiency, and swept a depleted Memphis Grizzlies team 4-0. When we get to this time of the year it is all about the matchups and intangibles, and in this series I like how the Spurs match up with OKC. Everything that Oklahoma City does San Antonio has a good counterpunch from assists, rebounds, points in the paint, and overall scoring percentage. While on offense San Antonio is extremely efficient but OKC is no slouch and rank in the better part of the league in most offensive categories. For this first game it'll be interesting to see how the tempo works out but I am banking on San Antonio to control pace and protect the ball better than OKC. One final reason to back San Antonio in this first game is most likely they will also when the foul battle partly because they are home but also because they rank first in the NBA in personal foul per game and per play. This is a smart, talented, and extremely well coached team that will give OKC a lot of trouble scoring tonight.

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3013405, "sportsbooksIds":[93,1096,169,999996,180,139], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
Free NBA Pick: Spurs -6 -107
Best Line Offered: at Pinnacle
