Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off the shocking upset on Saturday against Chicago, today I'm going to have to go against them when facing Atlanta Hawks. Look inside for a free NBA pick.

NBA odds
NBA oddsmakers have made Atlanta a -9 favorite across the board, and I am ok with that number. For one of my NBA picks, I like the Hawks to win this game by double digits. At most places like Sports Betting sportsbook, and other sportsbooks, you can get this number at regular odds of -110.

Minnesota Timberwolves
Minnesota comes in averaging 98.8 points per game, shooting 41.3% from the field, and 29.2% from beyond the arc. We took them plus the points against the Chicago Bulls and they ended up winning in overtime. The reason for that, though, was because they caught Chicago in a tough spot after an emotional win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and on top of that, Chicago seems to be a little bit off so far this season. Atlanta will be the best team that they have faced as of yet on the onset of the NBA year.

Defensively, Minnesota is allowing 96.8 points per game, 39.2% shooting from the field, and 27.9% shooting from beyond the arc. They have been doing an outstanding job on this end of the floor and I have really enjoyed seeing their young talent get out and defend like you are supposed to. Tonight though they're going to face an Atlanta team that is very hard to stop on the defensive end because of their movement on offense, different options, and how well they pass the ball.

Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks are averaging 103.9 points per game, 46.2% from the field, and 35% and beyond the arc. What really sets them apart, though, is how they consistently make that extra pass to get the right guy open. This is evident as they rank second in the league in assists per game. They simply do everything well on the offensive end, and they have the weapons to hurt you from so many different spots on the floor. Although Minnesota's been playing great on defense, as mentioned, they have yet to face an offense that moves the ball as well as the Hawks.

Defensively, Atlanta allows 98.2 points per game, 42.8% shooting from the floor, and 31.6% from beyond the arc. Their defense really complements their offense and they defend well in the paint and on the perimeter. They shouldn't face much of a threat from Minnesota who has some of the lower shooting percentages in the league. As well in their last game, the Timberwolves shot over 40% from beyond the arc against Chicago, which is well above their season average. Don't expect Minnesota to have the same type of success against this very good defensive team in the Hawks.

It's never easy going against a team that you just picked the game before and they cashed. This is a really tough spot for Minnesota, although I have really admired the defensive mindset that they have established this season. Tonight won't be their night, and for one of your NBA picks, I recommend laying the points and taking the Hawks.

Free NBA Pick: Hawks -9 at Heritage

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2882561, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
