76ers vs. Thunder
It doesn't matter that the Thunder needed overtime to beat Philadelphia in the first meeting of the season between the teams. Oklahoma City is favored by 10 points for tonight's game at home.
As of now the total is listed at 198.5. The OVER has hit the mark in five of the last six head-to-head meetings and has also gone 4-0 in Oklahoma's City last four games overall.
There have been highs but more lows in the 76ers' current extended road trip. They've gone 2-4 SU and ATS in six games so far, with the wins coming over Memphis (99-89) and the L.A. Lakers (103-99).
Two nights ago Philadelphia couldn't finish off a back-to-back set with a win, losing to Phoenix 95-89. Despite a balanced approach which saw six different players score in double figures, the 76ers had trouble stopping Luis Scola and Marcin Gortat inside.
Jrue Holiday continued his hot play by posting a triple double. He had 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting and added 10 assists, 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Thaddeus Young contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds.
With the loss, the 76ers dropped to 3-7 ATS over their last 10 road games. In their last seven matchups playing on one day’s rest, they've gone just 2-5 against the spread.
You can't really blame Holiday though. He's having a career season, averaging 18.8 points and 9 assists per game, and has really taken over as the lead dog since the departures of Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams.
Oklahoma City Thunder
You've always got your hands full whenever you play the Thunder. That's even truer when they're out for blood after a disappointing loss.
And a disappointing loss it was on Wednesday against the Nets. Brooklyn jumped over OKC right from the opening tip and never let up, leading to a surprising 17-point win inside of Chesapeake Energy Arena.
It was a terrible night at the office defensively for the Thunder. They got a combined 53 points and 15 assists from Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, but allowed the Nets to hit 50.0 percent from the floor overall.
Not often do you see OKC losing at home. It was their first defeat on their own floor for close to six weeks. On the season the Thunder are now 16-3 SU and 11-8 ATS at Chesapeake.
An interesting note: OKC has gone a terrific 10-1 against the spread following a double-digit defeat at home. The Thunder are also 12-5 ATS in their previous 17 matchups when playing on one days of rest.
Durant was tossed for the first time in his career on Wednesday, but in truth he was probably more upset with his team's performance than he was with a call.
That's one reason we think the Thunder come out and really take it to the 76ers tonight. They want to make things right after failing to put on a good show for their fans against the Nets.
Both of these teams are relatively equal in terms of defense, but OKC has a huge advantage on the offensive end where they rank number one in efficiency. The 76ers meanwhile are ranked #20 and tend to rely on Holiday to do everything. If he's not at his absolute best, it's going to be tough sledding for Doug Collins' team.Check out the rest of the NBA Free Picks at our NBA Page!~
