How will Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant (if he plays) and Kyrie Irving fare on their new teams in the 2019-20 NBA season? We break down some BetOnline props for them.

The NBA world is still waiting on Kawhi Leonard to pick his next team, be it staying with the NBA champion Toronto Raptors or signing with either the Los Angeles Lakers or Clippers. Frankly, it’s silly to talk about any NBA title futures for the 2019-20 season until Leonard makes a choice. If he goes to the Lakers with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, well, that’s that. The Lakers will be 2020 NBA champions even if they fill out the rest of their roster with a bunch of G-League guys as long as the Big 3 stay healthy.

With that said, let’s focus on some BetOnline props for the 2019-20 season (all options are -115) on three other big-name free agents who did change teams: Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have teamed up in Brooklyn, while Jimmy Butler landed in Miami via a sign-and-trade with the 76ers.

Durant ‘over/under’ 25.5 points per game

Durant O/U 6.5 rebounds per game

Irving O/U 21.5 ppg

Irving O/U 3.5 rpg

Let’s talk Durant first. It’s quite possible that KD doesn’t play at all in 2019-20 off the torn Achilles tendon he suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Warriors. Achilles tears are nowadays considered worse than ACL tears – especially for bigger guys like Durant. Kobe Bryant suffered one and was never the same. DeMarcus Cousins showed some positive signs this year for the Dubs off his Achilles tear the year before but Cousins also looked very limited at times.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

The Brooklyn Nets will be interesting. Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Spencer Dinwiddie and DeAndre Jordan will not be great.

\"Don't confuse interesting with great.\" — @ColinCowherd ;/a>
— Herd w/Colin Cowherd (@TheHerd) 1 de julho de 2019
\n"}[/]

Plus, will Durant really want to rush things in the wake of how things played out in the Finals after his calf injury? Doubtful. That prop, though, becomes live if Durant plays just one regular-season game. He could in theory be back in March, I suppose, to get in game shape, etc., for the playoffs. If the Nets aren’t in the playoff hunt – doubtful unless Irving gets seriously injured – then KD probably waits until 2020-21 to debut. Durant averaged 26.0 points and 6.4 rebounds last regular season, so you can see where BetOnline gets those numbers.

Not really sure why the site is doing rebounds instead of assists for Irving considering he’s a point guard. Irving put up 23.8 points and 5.0 rebounds last season with Boston. No question his shot attempts will go down whenever Durant debuts because KD will be the No. 1 scoring option just like LeBron James was when he played with Irving in Cleveland. Irving will be the clear No. 1 guy, though, with Durant out.

Free NBA Picks: 'Over' both Irving, and I don’t think Durant plays (go under if so).

Butler O/U 20.5 ppg

Butler O/U 5.5 rpg

Butler wasn’t the No. 1 option in Minnesota last season and he wasn’t in Philadelphia after the trade – Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid, respectively, were – but he will be in Miami just like he was in Chicago. Miami projects to have a starting five right now of Butler, Goran Dragic (unless he’s dumped), Dion Waiters, James Johnson and Bam Adebayo. Butler is clearly the alpha male among that group.

Butler averaged 21.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in 10 games with the Wolves last season and 18.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 55 with the 76ers. I believe we are looking at something like the 2016-17 version of Butler, which was his last season in Chicago. He put up 23.9 points and 6.2 rebounds.

Free NBA Picks: 'Over' both.
