Each day the LT Profits Sports Group seeks out a total that simply does not add up and therefore offers the most value that day. Here is their Total Value Play of the Day for Wednesday.

The home team may be able to keep the total score down on Wednesday night when the Los Angeles Clippers (29-14, 11-11 away) pay a visit to those Charlotte Bobcats (18-25, 10-12 home) at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC at 7:05 ET.

The posted total at Pinnacle Spots is 199 for this contest with the current odds on the ‘under’ set at -105.

The Clippers have handled life without their superstar point guard Chris Paul extremely well since he separated his shoulder as they have won six of their last seven games while topping 100 points in all six of the victories. That leaves Los Angeles in first place in the Pacific Division as they have extended out to a three-game lead over the second place Golden State Warriors.

The Bobcats are no longer the helpless patsies that they have been the last several years, and they are not even a last-place team right now as at 18-25 they are in fourth place in the Southeast Division, 6½ games ahead of the cellar dwelling Orlando Magic. The Cats have also been a pesky team at home where they are 10-12.

The only loss in the last seven games for the Clippers came when they visited the best defense in the NBA and lost 106-92 to the Indiana Pacers this past Saturday, marking the only game during that stretch where the Clips failed to score 100 points. Los Angeles is averaging a hefty 111.0 points over those seven games as Darren Collison has filled in nicely for Paul while J.J. Redick has provided a scoring lift at shooting guard since returning from his injury.

Also of course Blake Griffin has been doing his thing while leading the team in scoring with 22.5 points per game and even DeAndre Jordan, who is averaging 13.7 rebounds for the year while providing very good defense, has elevated his scoring by reaching double-figures in points in six of his last seven games.

It should be pointed out however that the Clippers have been going off offensively vs. some weak defenses in the absence of Paul, and it is not a coincidence that they struggled more vs. the best defense that they faced since he went down.

That is significant here because it is defense that had fueled the improvement of the Bobcats this season, as they are sixth in the NBA in points against at 96.8 per game and seventh in field goal percentage allowed at 44.3 percent. Furthermore Charlotte is allowing only 94.6 points per game here at Time Warner Arena, where they have held 17 of their last 18 opponents below 100 points during regulation time!

The reason that the Bobcats do not have a better record than they do is because their offense is ranked third from the bottom in the NBA in 28th in scoring at a mere 94.0 points per game, and to make matters worse, they are now without their leading scorer Kemba Walker and his 18.7 points per game for about two weeks because of a sprained ankle.

Thus the Bobcats are capable of making this a lower scoring game than the games the Clippers have typically been playing lately on both ends of the court, so go ‘under’ in Charlotte on Wednesday.
