The Wizards have been one of the best ‘under’ teams in the NBA by combining a weak offense with an underrated defense and the Raptors have not been scoring much either. Go ‘under’.

Look for a fairly low scoring game on Sunday evening when the Toronto Raptors (27-45, 10-26 away) pay a visit to the Washington Wizards (26-46, 19-17 home) at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC at 6:05 ET.

The posted total at BetOnline is 193 for this contest with the current odds on the ‘under’ set at -110.

The Wizards are coming off of yet another ‘under’ in a loss at Orlando on Friday which brings the ‘under’ to 42-27-3 in all Washington games this season. The Wizards shot 37.0 percent in that loss but they also held the Magic to 43.0 percent shooting in defeat, which has become a common occurrence this season.

Yes, one reason why the Wizards go ‘under’ so much is because they cannot score. Granted they improved shortly after John Wall made his belated season debut after returning from his knee injury, but they have now regressed again and are dead last in the NBA in scoring at just 92.9 points per game.

However, another reason why they go ‘under’ with such regularity is because the Wizards have a highly underrated defense. In fact, Washington is ranked sixth in the league in points against at 95.5 per game, fourth in field goal percentage allowed at 43.7 percent and eighth in three-point defense at 34.6 percent.

Lest you think that those rankings are fluky, they are validated by the fact that the Wizards rank seventh in the NBA in defensive efficiency at 100.2 points per 100 possessions.

Now the Raptors are in the middle of the pack scoring wise, ranking 16th overall, but they too have slipped offensively as of late. Toronto has reached 100 points only once in the last eight games, and the lone exception was when it put up 101 points on the defenseless Charlotte Bobcats.

Also, these clubs have exchanged low scoring road wins in their two head-to-head meetings this season with first the Raptors winning 96-88 here in this arena and then the Wizards travelling north of the border and winning 90-84 in Toronto. If you add in the final meeting last season, these teams have gone ‘under’ against each other three straight times with those three games averaging 183.0 combined points.

Furthermore, the ‘under’ is 5-1-1 in the last seven head-to-head meetings here in Washington. Expect more of the same in our nation’s capital so go ‘under’ again on Easter Sunday.
