The Kings have been a pesky club at home this season, where they are actually 19-19 straight up, and their offense should allow them to at least cover vs. Memphis if not win outright Sunday.

The pesky home team is a dangerous underdog Sunday when the Memphis Grizzlies (51-25, 21-17 away) pay a visit to those Sacramento Kings (27-49, 19-19 home) at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, CA at 6:05 ET.

The point spread at Pinnacle Sports has Sacramento as a decided home underdog for this contest with the current line at +5½ with odds of -101.

The Kings may be 22 games under 500 overall, but they have been a different team here at home where they are actually 19-19 straight up while being competitive with some of the better teams in the league.

Sacramento has not had much trouble scoring regardless of the venue, as it is ranked 10th in the NBA in scoring at 100.1 points per game, and that average rises to 104.6 points here at home. That always makes the Kings worth a look as home underdogs despite their defense ranking dead last in points against at 104.9 per game, especially when facing teams that are not particularly explosive, which Memphis is not for the most part.

The Kings have recently blown out the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Clippers here at home and they even have a nice recent road win at Golden State as well as a road cover at Denver, and who could forget that Sacramento took the Miami Heat to double overtime in a wild 141-129 loss while the Heat were in the midst of their 27-game winning streak.

The point is that the Kings have a good young nucleus in DeMarcus Cousins, Tyreke Evans and Isaiah Thomas, and this team has been ambushing some clubs taking them lightly all season long.

Now the Grizzlies are still just 1½ games behind the Nuggets for the third seed in the Western Conference, although they took a bit of a hit in an 86-84 loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles on Friday.

The Grizzlies are all about defense as they lead the NBA in points against at 89.8 points per game. However, Memphis only ranks seventh in field goal percentage against, which is lower than you might expect. The reason for that, and not to take anything away from their defense, is that the Grizzlies are third to last in the NBA in pace rating at 91.2 possessions per game, which naturally keeps their game scores down.

The Kings are quite capable of speeding up the pace of this game, and if Sacramento hits its shots then Memphis could be in trouble because it is only 26th in the league in scoring with 93.7 points per game.

With that in mind, look for the Kings to make enough shots to at the very least make this game interesting, making these points worth taking at home on Sunday.
