The Brooklyn Nets are 6-1 since firing Coach Avery Johnson while scoring at least 103 points in the last five wins with all those games going ‘over’. Look for yet another ‘over’ on Friday.

The home team has been an offensive juggernaut since firing its former coach, and that should continue Friday night vs. a defenseless team in the Phoenix Suns (12-25, 2-16 away) as they pay a visit to those Brooklyn Nets (20-15, 12-7 home) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY at 7:35 ET.

The posted total at Pinnacle Sports is 192 for this contest with the current odds on the ‘over’ set at -102.

Former Nets Coach Avery Johnson was named the NBA Coach of the Month for November. Less than one month later, Johnson was fired with the slumping Nets sitting at 14-14, and they have responded by going 6-1 under interim coach P.J. Carlesimo, including an impressive 110-93 road win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

High point totals like that have become the norm since Carlesimo took over, as the Nets have scored at least 103 points in each of their last five victories with all five of those contests going ‘over’ the total. This recent hot streak still leaves Brooklyn at 18th in the NBA in scoring offense at 96.2 points per game, so that should give you an idea of just how stagnant the offense had  become under Johnson.

The latest Brooklyn victims were the Philadelphia 76ers, whom the Nets routed 109-89 on the road at the City of Brotherly Love on Tuesday. Brooklyn shot a nice 48.2 percent overall in that contest, which went ‘over’ the posted total of 187, and it went a blistering 41.7 percent (10-of-24) from beyond the three-point arc with Deron Williams hitting three of those treys with Joe Johnson, Keith Bogans and even Mirza Teletovic adding two apiece.

The Nets currently have five players averaging double-digits led by center Brook Lopez with 18.7 points per game, and that kind of balance combined with looser play since Johnson was let go has led to some exciting, high-scoring basketball.

That scoring onslaught should continue tonight vs. a Phoenix team that owns one of the worst defenses in the NBA, particularly on the road. The Suns rank 25th in the NBA in points allowed at 100.2 per game and they are second to last in field goal percentage against at 47.1 percent, and as bad as those numbers are already, the Suns have actually been worse on the road allowing a disgusting 105.6 points per game on 47.6 percent shooting!

Granted Phoenix only averages 95.6 points per game, but given that the Nets could approach 110 points in this game, that should still be more than enough to push this total ‘over’ in Brooklyn on Friday.
