The Timberwolves will likely be without two top scorers Friday with Andrei Kirilenko joining the sidelined Kevin Love, while the Knicks have averaged 88.6 points the last five road games.

Look for a lower scoring game than the posted total would indicate Friday night when the New York Knicks (31-16, 12-10 away) pay a visit to the depleted Minnesota Timberwolves (18-28, 12-11 home) at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN at 8:05 ET.

The posted total at Bookmaker Sportsbook is 197 for this contest with the current odds on the ‘under’ set at -110.

These two teams went easily ‘under’ the first time they met this season at Madison Square Garden on December 23rd in a 94-91 New York victory, and we are anticipating a similar result this evening considering that Minnesota now has a decimated roster and the Knicks have had trouble scoring on the road as of late.

The Timberwolves have already been without Kevin Love for a while, as after not making his seasonal debut until the 10th game of the season because of a fractured right hand, Love re-fractured that same hand on January 3rd and is now out until late March after successful surgery. Love is still Minnesota’s leading scorer at 18.3 points per game in 18 games.

Now Andrei Kirilenko has a right quad strain that forced him to miss a 104-94 loss to the red-hot San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, and he is extremely doubtful for tonight’s game. Kirilenko is averaging 13.3 points and he has been filling the stat sheet, adding 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.

Minnesota hoped to get an offensive boost when Ricky Rubio returned, but while the Spaniard continues to make dazzling passes while averaging 6.0 assists per game, he is averaging a disappointing 6.1 points on a woeful 31.1 percent shooting. Furthermore, Rubio is 1-for-17 from beyond the three-point arc. That is after averaging 10.6 points and shooting 34.0 percent from beyond the arc in 41 games before blowing out his ACL last season.

Moreover, all Minnesota home games are averaging a combined 190.2 points this year, almost seven full points less than this posted total.

Now the Knicks are averaging 100.4 points overall, but that average drops to 98.5 points on the road and it has actually been a struggle for New York to score points on the road as of late. The Knicks just swept a five-game home stand, but they them lost 106-96 at Washington on Wednesday, marking the fourth time in the last five road games that they failed to reach 100 points.

Furthermore, New York is averaging just 88.6 points in those last five road contests with the ‘under’ going 4-1 in those games. The ‘under’ is also 8-3 in the Knicks’ last 11 games overall with those games averaging just a combined 190.0 points.

Look for a carbon copy of the earlier meeting between these teams in the Big Apple tonight, with the clubs staying ‘under’ yet again.
