The Los Angeles Clippers a certainly seem to fit the example of team that, after struggling in the first two to three weeks of the season, has managed to find itself and play a lot better while going on a long road trip. They’re a road favorite in Charlotte on Monday according to the NBA betting lines.

The Los Angeles Clippers Can Win Because…
They are coming together. The Clippers scored consecutive victories of at least 17 points this past week against the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat and while they’re coming off a loss to Memphis on Sunday, there’s no shame in losing on the road to the best team in the Western Conference. Some will criticize the quality of the first two teams but Orlando is not the pushover it was a season ago, and the Heat are still a team with Chris Bosh, Mario Chalmers, and other members of the defending Eastern Conference champions. The Clippers laid waste to both of them, not even having to sweat in the slightest when the fourth quarter arrived. That’s impressive. The Clippers’ offense entered Sunday having averaged 103.5 points per game, moving much closer to last year, when the team’s average was near 106 points for quite some time.

The Clippers should also be encouraged in this game by Charlotte’s recent struggles. The Hornets have lost five straight games and eight of their last 11 contests. The Hornets have been a hard team to watch on offense this season. Their average of under 95 points per game heading into Sunday was 26th in the league. The Hornets have to be able to show a lot more before NBA odds can favored them and can outscore an offense as good as the Clippers’ attack.

The Charlotte Hornets Can Win Because…
They're playing a Clipper team that had to make a road trip to Memphis on Sunday night. The Memphis Grizzlies are a team you don’t want to play as part of a back-to-back set, but that’s what the Clippers are looking at. They have to deal with the tough and unrelenting defensive energy of the Grizzlies before making the flight to Charlotte for Monday night’s game. The Clippers might have done well against the Magic and Heat, but they could be worn down by Memphis to the point that they might not be able to recover in Charlotte.

One other really good reason to pick the Hornets here is that they are 14th in the NBA in rebounding. The Clippers, on the other hand, are 29th, which is next to last. This point of differentiation is impossible to ignore.

There’s just no way you can take the Hornets with your NBA picks right now. The Hornets have lost five straight including some ugly performances at home. They lost by five at home to Orlando on Friday and by 27 to Dallas last Monday. The Clippers are playing better of the two teams and should keep the Hornets losing streak going for at least one more night.
