The Pelicans have overtaken the eighth spot in the Western Conference and now will do everything in their power to keep hold of it. Tonight, however, they are the NBA betting underdogs in Memphis.

Odds Overview
The Grizzlies are firm five-point favorites at a lot of the top sportsbooks, though there are some sites out there that have five and a half available.

If it's a total play you're most interested in, the O/U is at 184.5 on NBA betting odds board as of now, which would suggest we're going to be in for a defensive struggle here this evening. That's not all that surprising considering we'll have some top defensive big men in Anthony Davis and Marc Gasol going at it in this Western Conference showdown.

Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies are currently third in the Western Conference with a 52-25 overall record. They're a game back of Houston for the second seed and are two games up on the fourth-place Trail Blazers, so they're still jockeying for as high of a seed as they can possibly get. That means they haven't really been resting key guys down the stretch.

However, Memphis should be nice and rested regardless for tonight's contest, as they've been off since Saturday's home loss to Washington. It was a poor showing from the Grizzlies in front of their own fans, as they only shot 42.0 percent from the floor overall while committing 15 turnovers. Marc Gasol and Mike Conley were the only two players to hit double figures for Memphis, with the team only able to muster up 84 points in the defeat.

You'd have to think the Grizzlies will be eager to get back on track tonight in hopes of paying back their fans for that off performance. On the year, Memphis has gone 29-10 at home, but coming in the team has gone a mediocre 5-5 over its last 10 contests.

New Orleans Pelicans
What a fun ride it's been for the Pelicans, who are still in a fight for their lives to claim a spot in the playoffs. They've elevated their play when it matters most, winning five of their last six to overtake the Thunder for the final postseason spot out of the Western Conference.

Last night's victory was as good as it gets, as the Pelicans battled back in the second half to claim a 103-100 home win over the Warriors, who were playing at full strength without resting anyone. Anthony Davis, as usual, came up big, as he poured in 29 points to go with 10 rebounds, two assists, four blocks and two steals, while Tyreke Evans, Eric Gordon, Quincy Pondexter and Ryan Anderson all scored in double digits too.

Having Anderson back to stretch the floor has been a big-time boost and couldn't have come at a better junction of the season. The Pelicans are riding high right now, but can they keep it going against one of the best teams in the NBA tonight?

NBA Pick
Momentum is a dangerous thing in the NBA and you've got to make sure you take advantage with your NBA picks when the right situation presents itself.

The Pelicans are rolling right now and they have everything to play for, with each game being a playoff game as they try to lock up a spot in the playoffs. They haven't been performing well on the road, but last night's come-from-behind win over the Warriors should have them on cloud nine heading to Memphis tonight.

There are concerns with tired legs, but ultimately we think the adrenaline of this playoff push will override that, and it's hard to fade a motivated team that's getting huge performances day in and day out from AD. As long as Evans can stay out of foul trouble (he struggled with that last night), we like New Orleans to come in and make a game of it, leading to a cover for the road team.
