Even though there’s a short slate of NBA action today thanks to the NFL, there are still a few valuable games out there in the NBA Odds. I am using the two later games this evening to add to my NBA Picks.

Thunder vs. Magic
Oklahoma City won a great game on Friday night against the Warriors, and after a day off they head into Orlando tonight to start a five game Eastern Conference road swing. The NBA Odds have the Thunder as -9 favorites on the road, with a total of 213 points. Even though the spread is intriguing, the Magic have been playing pretty well recently. Nikola Vucevic has been playing out of his mind, and Russell Westbrook’s twin, Victor Oladipo has been really budding in his second season. The Magic are only 3-10 ATS as a home underdog this season, but the total of 213 is a far more valuable wager tonight.

The Thunder have been very good this season at cashing the under against the Eastern Conference. On the season they are 9-4 winning the under against the East this season, and they are 4-2 cashing the under when playing an Eastern Conference team on the road. The Thunder are also 21-9 cashing the under in their last 30 games played on one day’s rest, and 5-2 in their last seven games as road favorites. Take the under and add it to your NBA Picks.

Jazz vs. Spurs
Another team that has been playing better than their record says recently is the Utah Jazz, who have a very tough task tonight as they head into San Antonio. The NBA Odds have the Spurs as big -11 ½ favorites, with a total of 194 ½. Despite only being 3-5 SU in the month, the Jazz have stayed in games against much better teams, and they have even beaten the Bulls this month.

However the Spurs are healthy again and that poses a big problem for the Jazz. Kawhi Leonard returned Friday for his first game since the beginning of December, and he didn’t do much other than score 20 points in 31 minutes, while chipping in three steals, five assists and four boards. Leonard makes the Spurs a completely different team, and it’s one of the big reasons they are double-digit favorites against the Jazz tonight.

However instead of going with either side of this spread, I think another look at the under might be a good play. Leonard returning also should improve the Spurs’ defense on Gordon Hayward tonight, and already the Spurs have cashed the under in six of their last nine games. The Jazz are even better, going under the total at 11-2 in their last 13 games. The Jazz have cashed the under in seven of their last seven games as a road underdog, while the Spurs have cashed the under in five of their last six Sunday games. This being an early evening game might lend itself to the under as well, and as long as both teams bring their defenses, we should see a lower scoring game. Take the under and add it to your NBA Picks.
