The Minnesota Timberwolves have been struggling, losing four out of their last five games. Today they look to turn things around at home versus Utah. Which team provides value in this matchup? Find out here.

Utah Jazz

Utah has won two games in a row and is averaging 96.6 points per game while allowing just 92.8 which ranks first in the NBA in scoring defense. Offensively they still struggle at times due to their slow pace averaging just 78.7 attempts per game which rank last in the NBA. Still, they are shooting 51% on their two-point shots which rank sixth in the NBA, and they shoot 45.3% from the field which ranks 12th.

Across the board, they are decently efficient but they don't move the ball that well averaging just 70.8 assist per game which also ranks last in the league. They rely a lot on their defense which is where their foundation is as they rank first in the NBA in opponent effective field-goal percentage, shooting efficiency, and opponent overall shooting percentage. They also have been good in defending the perimeter allowing just 22.5 opponent attempts from distance per game which ranks second in the league. They don't allow a lot of transition and this should be a tough defensive matchup across the board. If they can play defense like they have been recently they should be able to come out of this game with a win.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota is coming off a tough battle versus the league's best team and is currently averaging 103.5 points per game which rank in the middle of the NBA. Head coach Tom Thibodeau has not turned this team around so far this season, but I believe a lot of that has to do with the fact this is a very young squad. Offensively they have been really good shooting 35.6% from distance but on the other side of the ball, they have really struggled. Defensively Minnesota ranks 28th and 29th in the league in opponent overall shooting percentage and opponent two points shooting percentage respectively.

This could be an issue tonight versus a Utah team that is very efficient in the interior. As well, Minnesota doesn't run at a fast tempo or allow a lot of attempts which plays more into the hand of how Utah likes to get up and down the floor. This is all the makings of some tough sledding which may at times get up and down a little bit because the game is in Minnesota. At the end of the day though there is a reason why NBA odds makers have made Utah the slight road favorite.

 Utah Jazz vs Minnesota Timberwolves

Oddsmakers have made Utah a -2 favorite in this spot and for my NBA expert pick I'm going to take the Jazz to get the road win. I think Utah poses some matchup problems for Minnesota tonight.
