The Portland Trail Blazers got a big boost from Damien Lillard in their first game of the year and outscored Utah 36-21 in the fourth quarter to win the game 113–104. Tonight they take on the Los Angeles Clippers and oddsmakers have made the Clips a small favorite in the NBA odds. Can Lillard pull off another big performance?

NBA sides record: 0-4
NBA totals record: 2-3

Los Angeles Clippers

Last season Los Angeles averaged 104.1 points per game which ranked them eighth in the NBA while defensively allowing opponents just a 48% effective field-goal percentage which ranked them third. This is a good Los Angeles team that is desperately trying to get out of the shadows of San Antonio and Golden State in the West. However, Portland is also in that same shadow and have some talent that could possibly make some noise if they can make the playoffs. I'm a little bit surprised that oddsmakers have come out making Los Angeles a favorite considering Portland's tremendous showing in their first game, but I think they have this one nailed. This is a Los Angeles team with a strong veteran presence along with some good depth. As well, the Clippers should come in with a little bit of revenge on their mind after losing to Portland in the playoffs getting swept the final four games of their six-game series.

Portland Trail Blazers

In their first game of the season, Damian Lillard scored 39 points and the Trail Blazers shot an incredible 68% from distance beating Utah 113-104. Lillard was absolutely incredible in that game and Portland took control in the fourth quarter after looking lackluster in the third. What could be troublesome tonight for Portland, however, is that they got outscored 50-34 in the paint which is an area that Los Angeles could be able to exploit. Along with their shooting 68% from distance Portland also shot 52% from the field but most likely would've lost the game without Lillard's heroics. Tonight for me this is the line play in that I'm a bit surprised Portland is any type of underdog, but when breaking these teams down Los Angeles for the most part is a bit better across the board so I will lay the small number on a Los Angeles team that I think is primed for their best season in years.

Final Analysis

Oddsmakers have Los Angeles as a small road favorite and for my NBA pick, I will take them at -1.5 after checking the best sportsbooks. I highly doubt Portland will shoot the ball nearly as well as their first game and Los Angeles should come in extremely focused.
