The Rockets come back home to take on the Celtics after a successful 4-1 record on their recent road trip. Over the past couple of weeks, the Celtics have been playing good basketball and capper believes there is value in the underdog for his NBA picks.

Boston Celtics

Boston has won their last two games in a row and is currently averaging 104.7 points per game while allowing 103.8, both of which ranked 14th in the NBA. After struggling at the beginning of the season Boston is starting to come around and beginning to look like a contender in the Eastern conference. Defensively they're playing well right now as they allow opponents to shoot just 44.3% from the floor and just 34% from distance which ranks them 11th and fifth in the league respectively. Their defending from beyond the arc will be crucial tonight against a Houston team that ranks first in the NBA in both three-pointers attempted and made per game.

On the other end of the floor, Boston has no problem putting it up from distance either as they are averaging 30.8 attempts beyond the arc per game while making 11.1 of those, both of which rank fifth in the league. There are some very interesting matchups here but Boston is a little bit better defensively than Houston so I like for them to keep this game relatively close.

Houston Rockets

Houston comes back from a tremendous road trip in which they shocked the Golden State Warriors in overtime. Mike D'Antoni's offense has been extremely efficient ranking second in the NBA in both shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage. As mentioned they love to shoot the ball from beyond the arc and tonight this will be the point of contention as their three-point shooting percentage ranks among one of the best the league. From points in the paint to three points shooting to assists this is a very good Houston offense. It is the another side of the ball though that gives me pause and believes this puts some value on backing the underdog tonight.

Across the board, Houston ranks as one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA ranking 24th in opponent effective field-goal percentage and shooting efficiency, as well as ranking 25th in opponent overall shooting percentage. The key point for them tonight though is that they allow opponents to shoot almost 37% from beyond the arc which could be troublesome for them as Boston, like Houston, likes to shoot from distance. Although Boston might struggle little bit stopping Houston from time to time look for the Rockets to have similar struggles.

Boston Celtics vs Houston Rockets

Oddsmakers have Boston as a +5.5 underdog across the board. Despite the fact Houston has been playing good basketball recently for my NBA pick I like for the Celtics to take this game to the wire and perhaps even pull off the upset.
