The NBA Draft is fast approaching and there are some great odds from several different sportsbooks. I am back to help guide you through a pair of valuable wagers on the NBA Draft, courtesy of BetOnline sportsbook.
A month or so ago, most people just assumed that after Markelle Fultz is taken number one overall, Lonzo Ball will be next at second. However, that isn’t a forgone conclusion for the Lakers just yet and there are rumors they could be looking to take the Kentucky product instead of the local UCLA kid.
This would obviously give this pick some more value, but even if the Lakers end up taking Ball at number two, with the trade the Celtics made, they could take Fox at three, or they could welcome another trade for some other team to move into the third spot.
All these things are pretty fluid right now, but it looks like Fox is going in the top four picks. At NBA Odds of +100 for the under on this one, I’m betting that someone takes a chance on Fox.
He reminds me some of John Wall coming out of Kentucky. Wall was never considered a good three-point shooter coming out of college and Fox’s three-point game will need some work. However, worse shooters have developed three-pointers, so for Fox his other skills and intangibles outweigh his current lack of shooting. I could see him going to Boston, or to a team willing to trade up to three or four to get him.Free Draft Pick: UNDER 4 ½ (+100) Best Line Offered: at BetOnline
Caleb Swanigan Draft Spot O/U 32 ½
Living in Indianapolis I have watched and heard about Caleb Swanigan a lot over the last two years. While I doubt he ever becomes an All-Star, much like a guy like Tristan Thompson, he is good enough to rebound, play defense, and stay on a team.
He recently worked out for the Atlanta Hawks and conveniently they hold the very first pick of the second round. However, while Swanigan could be slept on down the draft, I think there is a three-team window at the end of the first to the beginning of the second that could take him. The Hawks I mentioned, but also the Spurs and Jazz are 29th and 30th and both could use a big like Swanigan.
The Spurs’ big men are aging outside of LaMarcus Aldridge, and they could use some more cheap and young depth at that position. The Jazz may need him even more. Derrick Favors can’t stay healthy and other than him and Rudy Gobert, they have no big men under contract next season.
Swanigan could fit in nicely with one of those three teams and if that happens the number is the play here for your NBA draft picks as well.Free Draft Pick: UNDER 32 ½ (-105) Best Line Offered: at BetOnline
