The San Antonio Spurs are starting to roll and are on an eight-game winning streak. Oddsmakers have made San Antonio a decent road favorite in this spot but is there any way Washington can keep this game close?

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio is on an eight-game winning streak and is currently averaging 103.6 points per game and allowing just 98.3 which ranks them sixth in the NBA in scoring defense. The machine just keeps rolling in San Antonio and the Spurs once again look like NBA title contenders. Statistically, they are starting to do things that they do best like shooting 39.7% from distance which ranks first in the NBA and being very efficient from the floor ranking sixth and eighth in the league in shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. However, defensively they are not where they were last season with some pretty mediocre numbers allowing opponents to shoot 44.8% from the field which ranks them in the middle league. Still, they are doing what it takes to win. They don't push tempo very much getting up just 81.7 field-goal attempts for game which ranks second to last in the league as well as allowing opponents to get up just 81.5 which ranks them fifth defensively. With Washington's recent struggles over the past couple weeks, I believe San Antonio comes in and rolls to another win.

Washington Wizards

Washington is averaging 102.8 points per game while allowing 105.6 ranking them 20th in the league in both categories. Under Scott Brooks, this team has come out of the gates really struggling trying to implement the same type of up-tempo style he had going for him in Oklahoma City. Currently, Washington is pushing the pace getting up 87.2 attempts per game which rank them ninth in the league, however, they are simply not very efficient ranking 22nd in the NBA in both shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage. While one could argue that they are in the middle league offensively, you would be hard-pressed to find someone to say this is a good defensive team. Tonight could be really troublesome for Washington as they allow opponents to shoot 39.5% from distance which ranks them second to last in the NBA, as well as ranking 26th and 28th in opponent overall shooting percentage and effective field-goal percentage respectively. I'm sure they will be fired up to face San Antonio but across the board, it looks like they will be overmatched tonight.

NBA odds

Oddsmakers have made San Antonio a -6 favorite across the NBA odds board and for my NBA pick I will lay the points with the Spurs. Washington might keep it close in the first half but it San Antonio plays to their normal consistency they should win this game by double digits.
