NBA Betting Pick - Los Angeles Clippers vs Indiana Pacers

Chris Paul & Blake Griffin

Without Paul George the Indiana Pacers have been made a huge home underdog versus the Los Angeles Clippers. Is there any way Indiana can keep this game close? Here's our free NBA Pick.

Los Angeles Clippers

Los Angeles lost to Detroit on Friday 97-108 but prior to that had won 11 out of their last 12 games. They have been playing as well as anyone in the NBA not named Golden State and currently they are averaging 110 points per game while giving up just 97.8 which ranks them third and fifth in the league respectively. In the very first weeks of the season they stepped things up on the defensive side and simply dominated teams but in more recent weeks it is their offense that has stepped it up a notch. Offensively they have been really efficient shooting 47.2% from the field and 38.8% from distance which ranks them second and third in the league respectively. The defense has not fallen off much though as Los Angeles still remains among the top five in opponent overall shooting percentage and effective field-goal percentage. They don't allow a lot of ball movement ranking fourth in opponent assists and they been really good in the paint ranking seventh in opponent interior scoring. Although Indiana is going to want to push the tempo I think this is going to be a tough game for them against a Los Angeles team that should come in pretty motivated after losing by double digits at Detroit.

Indiana Pacers

Indiana is coming off a nice win versus Brooklyn but are still without All-Star Paul George for this contest. Although I respect Nate McMillan as the head coach and appreciate his propensity to want to get up and down the floor, Indiana has been terribly poor on the defensive end. Although they are shooting 45.5% from the field which ranks ninth in the NBA, on the other side of the ball they are allowing opponents to shoot around that same average and they also rank 19th in both opponent effective field-goal percentage and shooting efficiency. They have been very good in transition and at pushing the tempo by getting up 88.6 attempts per game but this is a Los Angeles team that is playing extremely good basketball right now despite the recent loss at Detroit and I just don't see them hanging in tonight without their star player. Look for Indiana to put up a bit of a fight but in the end, Los Angeles is simply the superior team and I expect them to win this well into double digits, even on the road.

NBA odds

Oddsmakers have come out making the Los Angeles Clippers a -10.5 favorite and for my NBA pick I'm going to back them. Although Indiana is still decent without Paul George I think they're going to struggle on both sides of the ball tonight.
