NBA Picks of the Day
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs
Tonight the Spurs are favored by 11.5 points over the visiting Timberwolves and we believe they will cover the large number.
Minnesota is already without Kevin Love, Brandon Roy, Chase Budinger and Malcolm Lee long term, but there's also a good chance they'll be missing J.J. Barea (back, doubtful) and Lazar Hayward (illness, questionable) tonight too.
Meanwhile, the Spurs have no injury concerns whatsoever. That's a huge advantage for a San Antonio team that was already loaded with depth to begin with.
For the Spurs, it should also make a world of difference they're facing off against Minnesota's middle-of-the-pack defense rather than the Grizzlies' second-ranked D. While San Antonio couldn't eclipse 100 points (even with overtime) versus Memphis, we think they'll sail over that number tonight.
Without Love out there, the Timberwolves have found it hard to find any consistency on the offensive end. Over their last two games, road losses to Oklahoma City and New Orleans, they netted an average of just 88 points. Defensively, things haven't been much better, with Minnesota allowing 102+ points in four consecutive matchups and in six of their last seven.
The Timberwolves have covered in only two of their last seven road contests and ultimately we feel they won't have enough firepower to stay toe-to-toe with the efficient Spurs, who are averaging 106.8 points per 100 possessions as opposed to Minnesota's 100.3.
There's also a little motivation here for San Antonio, who will be aiming to quickly bounce back after a tough loss in Memphis. Let's back the Spurs with our sports picks.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Portland Trail Blazers
When these teams squared off in early November, the Thunder ran away with a 106-92 win at home. They cashed as 8.5-point favorites, while the UNDER (204.5) ended up hitting the mark.
In tonight's rematch in the Rose Garden, we believe the UNDER to be the best play once again.
For one, the Thunder may be the NBA's most efficient team offensively, but they haven't been too shabby at all on the other end either. They're #6 in the league, allowing 100.1 points per 100 possessions thus far on the season. When the focus is there defensively, the super athletic Thunder are hard to score points on.
Portland has shown similar signs, especially as of late. It took some time for rookie Damian Lillard to get accustomed to the new defensive schemes, but it appears as if he's starting to catch on and that's helped out a lot on the perimeter.
Amazingly enough, the Trail Blazers have kept teams under 100 points in 11 of their last 12 home games, and that span includes encounters with excellent offensive teams like Miami (90 points), San Antonio (90) and Denver (93).
A couple notable trends for our total play: the UNDER has cashed in four of Oklahoma City's past five games overall and in five of their last seven road appearances, and the trend has gone 7-3-1 in Portland's previous 11 home matchups.
In a game that could very easily come down to the wire, we will be adding the UNDER to our NBA picks to close things out. Best of luck tonight, and don't forget to keep your browser pinned on SBRodds.com so you can obtain excellent value on your selections.
