Memphis is on a six-game winning streak and they put that on the line tonight in Cleveland, where they find themselves as heavy underdogs. Does that mean that LeBron and company are going to stomp all over them?

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis is on a six game winning streak with most recently pulling off a surprising upset versus Golden State winning 110-89. In that game they held Golden State to just 77 attempts from the floor which is one of their lowest totals of the season. Surprisingly Memphis did not shoot all that well shooting just 43.7% from the floor and 30.8% from distance. The biggest disparity in the game was the turnover margin in which Golden State had 23 compared to Memphis at just 12. Despite that huge win I have a hard time believing they are going to come in to Cleveland and have a repeat performance. This is a numbers play for me in that Cleveland looks like they're laying way too many points. But when we start to break things down it starts to look like Golden State just had a really off night rather than Memphis just dominated them, it happens. Tonight Memphis will have some tough matchups versus a Cleveland team that is back on track. Along with having some injuries to deal with Memphis is averaging just 98 points per game and shooting just 42% from the field. Their defense has been good due to the fact they go at a very slow pace but I expect for them to find difficulty slowing down the up-tempo Cavaliers.

 Cleveland Cavaliers

After dropping three games in a row Cleveland is now on a four-game winning streak winning their last three games by at least double digits. Currently the Cavaliers are averaging 111.5 points per game and shooting 46.6% from the field which ranks them third and fifth in the NBA respectively. Their efficiency is really starting to pick up and they are hitting their shots from distance averaging 40.1% from beyond the arc. It just looks to me like there is going to be some tough matchups for Memphis to keep up with Cleveland tonight across the board. Although defensively Cleveland has been less than stellar, statistically they are not bad ranking seventh in opponent shooting efficiency, and 10th in opponent overall shooting percentage at 44.4%. Right now it looks like they are rolling and although the line looks little bit too big I have no problem laying that number with them tonight. Coming off a little bit of rest and playing at home should be a recipe for disaster for the overachieving Grizzlies.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have Cleveland as a -13 favorite across the board. Although Memphis has played well recently they are a little bit banged up and tonight will be a bit overmatched. For my NBA pick I will back the Cavaliers and look for Cleveland to roll once again.
