Both the Bulls and Pistons are coming off of shocking upsets. Tonight in Detroit, which of these two teams will be able to bounce back? The road underdogs have some appealing value.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago's averaging 103.6 points per game while allowing 99.6 which ranks 18th and ninth in the league respectively. I was a little bit surprised to see them lose to Dallas but it makes a little bit of sense considering their big win versus Cleveland just the night prior. Tonight this will be a difficult matchup for them considering the fact that that Detroit is one the best defensive teams in the league. However, Chicago has been playing some pretty good defense of their own and I expect for them to keep this game relatively close. Currently, the bulls are allowing opponents to shoot just 44.4% from the floor and 47.5% on their two-point shots which ranks them 12th and fifth in the league respectively. As well they rank fourth in opponent shooting efficiency and third in opponent total rebounds per game. That last statistic will be of particular value against a Detroit team with Andre Drummond who are consistently one of the best rebounding teams in the NBA. Although Detroit should win at home, and I'm sure they are glad Reggie Jackson is back in the lineup, Chicago should stay within the number and take it to the wire.

Detroit Pistons

Detroit is coming off a home loss to the Orlando Magic and are currently averaging 100 points per game so far this season. Offensively, they been less than stellar as they rank 20th and 21st in effective field goal percentage and shooting efficiency respectively. With Jackson back in the lineup things should start to improve for Detroit but this  Chicago team is not any type of doormat. Defensively Detroit has been excellent so far this season ranking third in the league in both opponent overall shooting percentage and shooting efficiency. The issue tonight though is I believe Chicago matches up pretty well with Detroit and although neither team has been extremely good offensively both teams have been solid on the other side of the floor which makes this more of a grind-out type of game. Last season these two teams played things really tight with the biggest victory being by just 10 points by Chicago. All their other matchups went down to the wire and I expect for this game to do so also, grab the points.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have made Chicago +5.5 underdog across the board. For my NBA pick, I'm going to back Chicago because this is just a little bit too much to give a team that should give Detroit a lot of trouble tonight.
