A couple of very small lines are set with Dallas visiting Orlando, and Philadelphia playing at Detroit. With each game basically a toss-up, what are the best plays for your NBA picks?

Dallas is a small -1.5 road favorite on the NBA odds board, but with my NBA picks I’m going to take Orlando on the plus money line to win straight up. Although it seems to makes sense for the Mavericks to be favored, this game could really go either way and I like how these teams match up. Over the past three contests their numbers have been extremely similar with Dallas averaging just less than 91 points and allowing 98, and Orlando averaging just more than 91 points and also allowing 98. The interesting averages don’t stop there because when we look at the home and away disparities, again, the numbers are similar. On the road Dallas is shooting 44.6 percent compared to Orlando's 45 percent at home. And while the Mavs shoot a little better from distance at just more than 36 percent compared to just more than 34 percent for the Magic, Orlando is a little better in the interior extended, shooting 51 percent at home on their two-point shots. Defensively as well they are quite even, with Orlando ranking 19th and Dallas 20th in opponent shooting efficiency. At the end of the day this game can go either way, so grab some value on the plus money line with the Magic at home.

The line on the NBA odds board surprises me a little, with visiting Philadelphia only a -1.5 favorite. Philadelphia has won all three meetings with Detroit this season and I don’t think Blake Griffin is going to be the difference in this contest. I am a huge Stan Van Gundy fan but I simply can’t deny the fact that Philadelphia is much better on both sides the ball, from shooting percentages across the board to the 76ers ranking first and second in opponent shooting percentage and efficiency, respectively. Even in the home and away disparities Philadelphia is better on the road than Detroit is at home, except where both teams are shooting 37 percent from distance in this situation. Both teams are on fire right now, but Philadelphia is the better team. With my NBA picks I have no problem backing them getting a little plus money line value to win this game straight up.
