The Final Four is set and baseball begins later this week. Yet the beat of the drum is still marching to sportsbooks and the betting odds they have sent out and adjustments have been made accordingly.

Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll. (458-408 L163D)

NBA – Celtics vs. Hornets  7:05 ET  CS-NE, SPSO
Having won three in a row, Brooklyn has moved a game head of Boston and Charlotte, which is why this contest is so important in the Eastern Conference. The pressure is really on the Celtics who have lost two of three to the Hornets and another loss not only means they lose more ground but they would fall further back because of the tie-breaker. Those examining the NBA odds on the total are making sports picks with the belief points will be more plentiful than first thought by raising the total two points to 194. In each team’s last five contests, the final score has been around 200 and their previous two matchups have gone OVER higher totals this one. What has helped keep this at a lower NBA odds total in general is the past five contests in North Carolina have all gone UNDER.

NBA Pick – Lean Under

NBA – Jazz vs. Wolves  8:05 ET  ROOT-NW, FS-NO
Utah has been anything but consistent the last seven weeks, playing outstanding for long expanses and following that up by returning to mediocre performances. Even with the Jazz recent victory over Oklahoma City, they are 2-5 SU and ATS in past seven encounters. Minnesota on the other hand has been consistent, consistently bad in losing 14 of 17 (7-10 ATS). For those placing NBA picks, they are betting against the Timberwolves in sending them from +3.5 to +5. This is not an easy choice for any NBA basketball handicapper, but Utah is 4-1 SU and ATS in past five visits to Minneapolis and the visitor is a perfect 6-0 ATS in latest matchups.

NBA Pick – Lean Utah

NCAA Basketball Tournament – UL-Monroe vs. Loyola-Chicago  8:00 ET  CBSSN
For those unaware, the CIT Finals are a best of three and this will be the opener. Both clubs are defense-first by nature this season, with UL- Monroe holding teams to 60.3 points a game and Loyola-Chicago at 60.4 PPG. Both offenses fail to reach the 65-point barrier on the year, the Warhawks because they are lousy shooters (42.9 percent) and the Ramblers because they slow the pace in only attempting 48 shots per contest. This has sent the original total of 133 backwards to 130. This is hard to argue with since Loyola is 12-3 UNDER versus teams allowing 64 or fewer points a game this season.

NCAA Basketball Pick – Play Under 130.5 at The Greek

NHL– Canucks vs. Blues   8:05 ET  SN-PAC, FS-MW
St. Louis has tumbled 20 cents as a money line home favorite to -140 against Vancouver and here is why. Though the Canucks have lose their prior two contests, they have won three straight on the road, beaten the Blues five consecutive times and taken four of five near the shores of the Mississippi River. St. Louis is sinking, losers of five of six and four of six on home ice. No easy call, but I’ll place my NHL picks on the home team who is 20-5 after a loss on their own ice.

NHL Pick – St. Louis wins
