The Blazers are really scuffling right now after a nice start to the season, and on the road against the Warriors is not a great game to get right even with Steph Curry out. What can we expect from Portland as a +11½ underdog with a total of 215½?

Blazers vs. Warriors

The Blazers opened the season as a really strong defensive unit. However, that has started to change some recently, but the sportsbooks have been slow to catch on. Portland is allowing 114 points per game over its last four contests, and while there are several factors to this, one might just be simple regression back to the average.

Portland was not a good defensive team last season, but the implementation of Jusuf Nurkic this season has helped. However, the Bosnian Beast is hurt tonight and he will not play. This makes a questionable defense even worse, and against the best team in the league that’s not good. Even with Steph Curry still out for the Warriors, if Golden State can get Patrick McCaw back from a concussion that will help fill the void against this talented Blazers’ backcourt.

However, either way it goes, once again the total looks like the better value. If the Blazers’ defense can’t get going on the road, Golden State is going to eat the Blazers alive. The Warriors are coming off a long road trip, and the last time that happened they dropped 143 points on the Bulls in their first home game back.

While they have yet to play one another so far this season, three of the last four games between these two have gone 'over,' and with the injuries for both teams, this could be a game played really fast with small-ball lineups basically the entire time.
