The Magic and Pacers have both been turning over new leafs with how fast they are playing, but while the Pacers keep winning the Magic are starting to lose again. With Indiana playing well and at home, are the Pacers worth taking a shot on Monday?

Magic at Pacers

The big question mark for this one is Indiana guard Victor Oladipo and whether he will be ready to play his old team tonight. Oladipo missed the Pacers’ loss to the Celtics on Saturday, so after a day off Sunday it remains to be seen what his status will be. If he plays, the Pacers are clear-cut favorites against a struggling Magic team that has lost eight straight games, but if Oladipo misses that muddies the waters somewhat.

The NBA Odds just came out for this one, and they have the Pacers as 4-point favorites with a total of 218½. That indicates to me the sportsbooks also don’t know if Oladipo is going to play. So, with that in mind the spread is off limits for me tonight, but the total is where I want to win some money.

The Pacers are playing at a pace of 99 possessions per game, and the Magic are playing even faster than that with a pace of nearly 101 possessions per 48 minutes. With neither team playing much defense, if this game gets into a shootout, look for the 'over' to be the play.

Frank Vogel always wants to beat his old team, and I’m sure the Pacers want to beat their old coach coming back to town. Even though their first meeting this season was pretty low scoring, two of the last three meetings before that went 'over' the total, and during this Magic losing streak they have been pretty reliable in giving up points.

The 'over' has cashed in seven of the Magic’s 12 road games this season, and they have also cashed it in four of their last five overall allowing an average of 120.4 points per game during that stretch.
