It’s only a six game evening in the NBA on Monday night, however the value is still there with a couple games. I think I have found two that are good enough to recommend, so follow along as I release my NBA Picks of the day.
Denver Nuggets vs. Indiana Pacers
The Nuggets will likely be without Ty Lawson for this game after he fractured a rib a few nights ago. This is going to take their offensive upside down several notches, especially against the Pacers’ defense. The NBA Odds have Indiana as a -10 ½ favorite, with a total of 199 points. With Lawson likely out, the spread is off limits to me. Instead I see the total having a bit more value tonight.
The Nuggets have missed Lawson in four total games so far throughout this season, and in those four, Denver is only averaging 91 ½ points per game. However tonight against Indiana’s defense, things might get even harder for the Nuggets offensively. Despite the fact that the Pacers played last night, their defense is still going to be very good at home. Indiana is probably not too pleased about losing to the Magic last night, so expect a much better effort tonight. I doubt the Pacers give up another 29 point quarter like they did in the fourth quarter of yesterday’s game.
The Nuggets are going to have no inside presence in this game due to going up against the Pacers, and with a much smaller front court, and a banged up back court, the Pacers will not only outrebound the Nuggets, but they will slow the game down enough to where neither team will score a lot. I don’t trust either team to cover, but I do think this might be an ugly game as both are ready for the All Star break.
NBA Pick: UNDER 199
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Toronto Raptors
The Pelicans also played last night and were about to get blown out by the Nets before they turned things on in the second half. Tonight in Canada, the NBA Odds have the Pels as +7 underdogs with a total of 193 ½. On the second night of a back to back, the Pelicans have been far from good this season, and making the trip to Toronto is never easy, let alone on no rest. New Orleans is 4-7-1 ATS when playing two games in as many nights this season, and I see them being too tired to score on the good Raptors team.
The Raptors have lost three of their last four games SU, however they were all on a wicked road trip of which they have now had two full days to recover from. Toronto should have no problem taking care of the Pels tonight, and I am laying the -7.
Even though their defense has been pretty good recently, overall this season New Orleans can’t stop people when playing on the road. New Orleans gives up just over 104 points per game on the road this season, and even though I doubt the Raptors score a ton in this game, they should find it easy against the tired Pelicans. While they may stay with New Orleans for a good portion of the game, look for the rested Raptors to take control late, and cover the spread for our basketball picks.
NBA Pick: Raptors -7
