Another NBA week is set to start with a light slate of games on the schedule for Monday night, but our expert capper Troy Haliburton will make sure to give you some free picks that will put some extra cash in your pocket.

Heat at Grizzlies

The Heat are finally getting back on track to the team that finished last season 31-10 and had many analysts suggesting that they would be one of the more competitive teams in the Eastern Conference. The Heat had to get over a bout of early-season injuries, especially to star center Hassan Whiteside. Whiteside is anchoring the Heat defense with his 1.64 blocks and 12.6 rebounds per game. While Whiteside is doing his job at protecting the paint, the rest of the team has to improve at keeping teams off of the 3-point line. The Heat are giving up 37.8% from behind the arc to opposing teams, ranking 25th in the NBA.

The Grizzlies are coming off a season-defining span of 14 of their last 15 games. Marc Gasol looked to be primed for another big season, but the center has struggled mightily at keeping up with smaller and quicker defenders. The Grizzlies appear to have settled on a rotation that includes James Ennis starting at small forward and Chandler Parsons coming off the bench. Credit to coach J.B. Bickerstaff for trusting his instincts and playing the best lineup to win based on talent and not salary.

Miami will keep the Grizzlies in their losing ways.

Pelicans at Rockets

The Pelicans are finally figuring out how to use their two dynamic big men and are surrounding them with capable shooters on the outside. Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins are dominating teams with their ability to play inside and outside. Cousins has especially put forth his best effort as a pro and the results are plentiful. Boogie is stuffing the stat sheet with 26.2 points, 12,4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.59 blocks, and 1.59 steals per game.

The Rockets have the best record in the NBA and are using Chris Paul’s presence as a catalyst that is making this team damn near unbeatable. Paul has opened up so many different lineup choices and rotations for the Rockets, the most important aspect is the fact that he allows James Harden to play off of the ball. Harden is so use to dominating the ball, but now teams aren’t allowed to key in on him because he is off the ball and cutting instead of dribbling the air out of the ball.

Houston has gotten to the point where it is just dominating inferior teams, and this game will be no different.

Hornets at Thunder

Charlotte is in the midst of a three-game losing streak and has lost seven of its last eight. The Hornets are finally able to spread the ball around and have players other than Kemba Walker score the basketball. Dwight Howard got back to his dominant ways after recording two double doubles, while Nicolas Batum and Jeremy Lamb combined to score 29 and 33 points, respectively, in the last two games. This style of play is much needed after Kemba Walker had a 47-point game in a loss to the Chicago Bulls. The Hornets are a much better team when they can spread the wealth, and that will be the objective against the Thunder.

Oklahoma City will hope that Paul George will be back in the lineup after missing two games with a calf contusion. In George’s absence, the Thunder struggled to score the basketball, and should be using this as a sign to realize how they need to keep George involved and maybe have Carmelo Anthony take a backseat.
