Russell Westbrook comes into Minnesota after setting the all-time record for most triple doubles in an NBA season. Oddsmakers have made Oklahoma City a small road underdog in this spot, but with them being locked into the playoffs is there any value in backing Minnesota?

Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma City once again is heading for the playoffs but for tonight’s game, I think this is a good spot to fade them. Although they haven’t made a decision on who will play or who will not, with them being locked into the sixth slot in the Western Conference I can’t imagine they will be super motivated in this contest. On the season Oklahoma City has been great in pushing the tempo and getting up plenty of points while being reasonably efficient from the interior extended. From beyond the arc, they have been horrible averaging just 32.7% from distance which ranks last in the NBA.

As the playoffs are just around the corner for them it is on the defensive side where they could struggle somewhat. Currently, Oklahoma City is allowing opponents to shoot 46% from the floor which ranks 21st in the NBA and most of their defensive statistics are outside of the top 10 teams. I don’t expect a maximum effort from them tonight and although oddsmakers have made this number small I expect for Minnesota to win by more than five points.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota has not had the year that they probably expected under head coach Tom Thibodeau but this a young team that has some talent going into next season. Surprisingly they have been more offensively orientated which is not what I expected from Thibodeau. On the season Minnesota has been efficient in putting the ball in the basket shooting 46.7% from the floor which ranks them eighth in the NBA.

However, they rank second to last in opponent overall shooting percentage, opponent shooting efficiency, and opponent effective field-goal percentage. With this being their last home game of the year I expect for them to give a nice effort for the fans and get a win. Although this is been a disappointing season for the Timberwolves expect for a big bounce back year next season and for them to likely make the playoffs.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves

Oddsmakers not surprisingly have come out making Minnesota a small home -2.5 favorite. For my NBA pick, I will take them to win their final home game of the season and start getting geared up for next year.

Free NBA Pick: Minnesota -2.5

Best Line Offered: at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3068187, "sportsbooksIds":[238,1275,43,999996,1096], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
