Oklahoma City has surprisingly lost two games in a row at home as they take on the Milwaukee Bucks today. Milwaukee still has not locked up a spot in the East so is there any value in backing the Bucks today?

Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee is coming off a tough loss at the hands of Dallas but over the last few weeks have been playing solid basketball. They have been really solid on the offensive side of the ball ranking fifth and seventh in the NBA in effective field-goal percentage and shooting efficiency respectively. As well they are surprisingly number two in the league shooting 47.7% overall from the field. Defensively they have been less than stellar percentagewise as they allow opponents to shoot 46% from the floor. However they been good at slowing down the pace allowing just 83 attempts per game and 38.1 field goals per game which ranks them fifth and seventh in the NBA respectively on the defensive side. This is an important game for them and I actually think Milwaukee has an outside shot to pull off the upset. I think they match up well with Oklahoma City and with this game being a lot more meaningful for them I think there is value in grabbing the points.

Oklahoma City Thunder

It is never easy to go against Oklahoma City when they play at home but they have been playing less than stellar basketball over the past week and needed Russell Westbrook to save the day twice on the road. I am not sure about their intensity level in this matchup outside of the fact they are on a minor losing streak and I don’t particularly like how they matchup with Milwaukee. This season has been all about Russell Westbrook for Oklahoma City and he is absolutely carried them, but their numbers across the board are simply not that good. Offensively Oklahoma City ranks 18th in shooting efficiency and they are abysmal from beyond the arc shooting just 32.8% which ranks them 28th in the NBA. Defensively they rank mostly around the middle the league, but are tied with Milwaukee allowing opponents shoot 46% from the field, not a good statistic. This game has a very good chance to go down the wire so I believe grabbing the points will be a premium but don’t be shocked if Milwaukee hands OKC another loss.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have made Oklahoma City a -4.5 favorite but for my NBA pick, I will take Milwaukee plus the points. I think Milwaukee will come in and try to slow the pace down a little bit against the up-tempo Thunder and find a way to keep this game interesting and down to the wire.
