After taking care of the Trail Blazers at home in overtime the Mavericks now have to visit Portland for their home and away series. Can the Mavs keep momentum for our NBA picks and sweep the two-game series?

Over the past couple weeks Dallas has been struggling to get wins and it looks like it won’t get any easier tonight with Portland looking for a bit of revenge.

Betting Odds
Oddsmakers have made Portland a -6.5 favorite at home like on the NBA odds board at BetOnline -110.  Like Dallas, Portland has had their own troubles recently having mostly been away from home the past couple of weeks. For one of my NBA picks, I will back them in this spot though to beat Dallas by double digits.

Dallas Mavericks
Dallas is sitting at 35-35 overall, seventh in the Western Conference standings, have lost seven of their last 10 games, and rank 14th in the league averaging 102.9 points per game. The biggest news coming out of Dallas of course is that Chandler Parsons is injured and will be out the next six weeks.  Statistically this team is the epitome of mediocre as they rank just about right in the middle of the league in most categories on both sides of the ball.  Matchup wise on the road I believe they will have some difficulty against a Portland team that can light it up at home.  One major issue is that the Mavericks allow a lot of pace allowing teams to get up 86 attempts per game which ranks 26th in the league.  That might be ok at home but at Portland pushing this type of pace will be problematic against a Trail Blazers team that jumps from 10th in the league in effective field goal percentage on the road to fifth at home.  On top of all of this is that Dallas has the Warriors up next, and although this might not be a huge factor it will definitely be lingering somewhat in the back of their minds.

Portland Trail Blazers
Portland has played eight of their last 10 games on the road, average 104.5 points per game which ranks seventh in the league, and rank third in the league averaging 10.5 three pointers per game.  Like most of their statistics offensively the Trail Blazers see a boost across the board scoring wise at home.  They jump from 10th on the road in scoring to third at home and go shooting just under 44% on the road to 46% at home.  As well, the go from shooting around 36% from distance on the road to just under 38% at home.  Defensively they are about even with Dallas in most categories and rank in the middle of the NBA in opponent shooting percentage and efficiency.  They don’t defend from beyond the arc that well but that won’t be a point of contention with the Mavs being one of the poorer three point shooting teams in the league percentagewise.  Along with all these statistics Portland ranks fourth in the league in total rebounds per game so I expect them to win this battle tonight as well.  Expect them to shoot a lot better than they did in Dallas.
