Mavericks & Rockets Offensively Focused Tonight, Pick 'Over'

With both teams coming off back to back I'm expecting a lack of defense tonight when the Dallas visit the Houston Rockets. Back over with your NBA picks & expect a fast-paced up and down affair.

NBA Odds
NBA Odds makers have this total opened at 212. On initial glance that looked a bit high but considering the situation and matchups I like for these teams to put up a lot of points tonight. You can still get regular odds at -110 on over the total at Sports Betting sports book. For one of my NBA picks today I'm going to take the over and look for a ton of offense tonight.

Dallas Mavericks
Dallas is averaging 102.1 points per game, shooting 43.9% from the field, and 32.3% from beyond the arc. Rick Carlisle has been a pretty good job this year with an interesting group of players and what they do best is push tempo. They are averaging 85.6 field goal attempts per game which ranks 12th in the NBA. Their overall percentages are not bad and they don't turnover the ball averaging just 12.4 per game which ranks second in the NBA.

Defensively Dallas is allowing 103.5 points per game, 44.1% shooting from the floor, and 31.7% shooting from beyond the arc. The defensive shooting percentage beyond the arc is solid and ranks sixth in the NBA. Besides that they are team that likes the run and like it when their opponent runs as well as they allow 86.8 field goal attempts per game which ranks in the bottom part of the league. After coming off a back to back against the Lakers last night expect Dallas to be a little less efficient defensively and be more inclined to run with Houston.

Houston Rockets
Houston is averaging 102.2 points per game, shooting 42.7% from the field, and 28.4% from beyond the arc. Offensively these are some really surprising numbers overall but they are shooting at a solid rate from the interior out towards the three point line averaging 51.2% on their two point shots. What I like about backing the over though is how much Houston enjoys shooting the three as they attempt an average of 32.1 per game which ranks first in the NBA. Sooner or later their beyond the arc percentages are going to start to pick up and when that happens this team should get back to being as formidable as they were last year.

Defensively Houston is allowing 108.2 points per game, 47.1% shooting from the field, and 37.3% shooting from beyond the arc. The numbers are horrible and rank as some of the worst in the NBA which is surprising considering how well the played defense last year. I'm anticipating for these numbers to improve as the season continues, but not tonight, and especially not on the second leg of a back to back.

The number seems quite high on the total but these two teams know how to score, it up and down the floor, and shoot a three. For one of your NBA Picks tonight I recommend backing over the total when these two meet off of their back to back games. Expect less defense and more offense tonight in Houston.
