Will the Spurs start the second half on a high note or will the Clippers continue their recent roll? Let's put all the pieces together and come up with the best NBA pick for this matchup.

NBA odds experts have come out making San Antonio a -4.5 favorite and the total around 205. This seems about right but I like the fact that they lost in this same scenario last season, so they should come ready to play. The Clippers have been playing really well but for my selection I like the Spurs to win this game by more than five.

San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio is averaging 105 points per game while shooting 49.1% from the field, and allowing 91.8 points per game on 43.1% from the field. On the season they are 34-19 overall against the spread, and 15-10 on the road. The Spurs have won five games in a row and since the new year have only lost two games, one at Golden State and the other one at Cleveland. They should be well prepared for this road contest considering their next six games will be on the road to start off their season after the break. Offensively they have been one of the best in the NBA all season and rank first in overall shooting percentage, and second in two and three point shooting percentage, along with effective field-goal percentage. Defensively they are arguably the best team in the league and rank in the top three in most defenive categories. They also defend beyond the arc better than anybody allowing opponents just 19.2 attempts from distance while making only 6.1 per game, both ranking first in the NBA.

Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles is averaging 104.7 points per game while shooting 46.2% from the field, and allowing 100.8 points per game on 43.7% shooting from the field. On the season they are 25-25-3 overall against the spread, and 11-13-1 at home. They have been one of the most surprising teams this NBA season simply for the fact they lost one of their stars, but that arguably made them better. Like the Spurs they have been extremely good since the beginning of the new year, and only have a handful of losses the past month and a half. Offensively they have not missed a beat without Griffin and they rank in the top five in the NBA in overall, two, and three point shooting percentage. They have been controlling tempo and staying very efficient ranking ninth and fourth in the NBA in shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. Defensively they have been solid and rank fifth in the NBA in opponent overall and two point shooting percentage. They also rank in the top 10 in opponent shooting efficiency and opponent effective field-goal percentage. Doc Rivers has a really good job with this team and Chris Paul, J.J. Redick, and Jamal Crawford have all stepped up their play.

It is never easy to predict how teams are going to play after a long break, but in this matchup I'm going to side with the San Antonio Spurs. For one of your NBA picks I recommend backing San Antonio minus the points to continue a dominant season. All respect to what Los Angeles has done, the Spurs are simply the overall better team and should get it done tonight.
