Both teams were in action last night as the Magic picked up a win in Sacramento while the Trail Blazers were blown out by the Warriors. Let's peruse the NBA odds and determine which side to back tonight.

Orlando Magic (28-36 SU, 35-28-1 ATS)
Orlando blew into Sacramento last night riding a three game losing skid and held off the Kings en route to a 107-100 victory, snapping the skein and headed to Portland to wrap up a four game road trip. Power forward Aaron Gordon, now in his sophomore season, led all scorers with 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Magic won the battle of the boards 51-37 leading to the victory. Nikola Vucevic and his 17.8 point per game average was out of action for a third consecutive game with a groin pull while point guard Elfrid Payton (10.7 PPG) was sidelined with an elbow sprain.

Despite their 28-26 record the Magic are still within shouting distance of the eighth and final playoff spot although that echo reverberates further and further away with each loss as the season enters the home stretch. Orlando trails Detroit by 4 ½ games for the final postseason seed with the Wizards and Bulls standing in their way. Nevertheless, the Magic have registered a positive return to those who have backed them this season with a 35-28-1 ATS mark.

Portland Trail Blazers (34-32 SU, 37-29 ATS)
When a team drains 19 three-pointers you would think that would be a propitious sign of a winning effort. However, when said team plays the Golden State Warriors it can be a different story entirely and it was as the teams combined for 37 treys, the most in NBA history, leading to a 128-112 Golden State victory. The Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, provided 15 of the Warriors' 18 three-pointers and limited Portland's emerging superstar Damian Lillard to just 5-of-19 from the floor for a total of 17 points. It was clear that Curry and Thompson, scoring 34 and 37 points respectively, had no spotlight to share for the Oakland native as they avenged a 137-105 Portland beatdown from three weeks ago.

The Blazers enter this game locked in a three-way death struggle for playoff positions six, seven and eight with the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. Tonight is a game that Portland would like to have before it sets out on a four game sojourn that includes stops in Oklahoma City, San Antonio, New Orleans and Dallas. That quartet of road contests will be no walk in the park and could go a long way towards determining whether or not the Trail Blazers get their ticket punched into the Western Conference playoffs.

Betting Analysis
Both teams will be battling fatigue to some extent as both were on the road last night before touching down in Portland in the wee hours of Saturday morning. But if you look at how this matchup shakes out and the NBA odds that accompany it then I would suggest you consider betting Portland tonight in your NBA picks. Here are a few stats to support that contention:

Orlando Magic:

0-5-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games.

0-4 ATS in their last four games following a straight up win.

1-5 ATS in their last six contests after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

0-5 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win.

Portland Trail Blazers:

4-1 ATS in their last five vs. the Southeast Division.

8-1 ATS in their last nine games following a ATS loss.

7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a straight up loss.

5-0 ATS in their last five games following a straight up loss of more than 10 points.

Portland will also be looking to avenge a 102-94 defeat in their only meeting this season with the Magic that occurred in Orlando back on December 18th. In addition, the Magic's big man Nikola Vucevic is doubtful and the Blazers are simply too talented and deep for a Magic team that is aching to return home.
