Both the Wolves and Magic are coming into this game struggling and that means good news for us, because one of them has to win this game. Even with the Wolves losing two straight, they are still a very talented team, and the Magic might have trouble defending against them.

Coming into this season, everyone was high on the Wolves. Everyone thought that they would magically (no pun intended) become a contender in the Western Conference and get a top-four seed in the Western Conference on talent alone.

As we’ve seen early in the season, that’s not the case. The Wolves have struggled on both ends of the court at times, but especially on defense, which is the most surprising. I figured Tom Thibodeau would whip these young kids into shape, and with the guidance of Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson, they would be a top-10 defensive team.

They have been anything but. Karl-Anthony Towns is a below average defender, Andrew Wiggins just looks like he doesn’t care, and Jeff Teague hasn’t defended anyone a day in his life. This has led the Wolves to give up 109.5 points per 100 possessions, which ranks fourth worst in the league.

However, at home, they have been better, and against a team like the Magic that can struggle to score sometimes, this is the perfect get right game for this young club. Coming off getting embarrassed by Dwight Howard and the Hornets, I think Thibodeau has probably spent the last few days yelling at his guys and they should respond tonight in front of the home crowd.

This Wolves team has also been a different ball club at home. So far they are 4-3 ATS at home and they allow only 103.1 points per game at the Target Center. They have also been playing better defense lately, even if you include their most recent loss. Over their last five, the Wolves have allowed just 97.8 points per game, and against the Magic, that means a nice cover at home before the holidays! For my NBA Pick, I advise that you grab the points with the Wolves.
