As we head into the second week of the NBA season we take a look at a couple of games focusing on the totals. We've found two lines that have plenty of value.

Charlotte Hornets vs Milwaukee Bucks

Both Charlotte and Milwaukee have started the season not really pushing a lot of tempo averaging just under 80 attempts per game. When we look at the matchups I’ve a hard time believing these two teams are going to be able to get over this total set of 205 in the NBA odds board. Jason Kidd and Stephen Clifford put emphasis on defense and tonight I expect for this game to be a battle to score points. Last season as a home favorite Milwaukee was 18-15 on their unders, and after win 25-18.

On the other side of the ball, Charlotte as an away underdog was 11-11 on their totals last season along with 26-26 in their conference games. Milwaukee has been great this season shooting a very solid 49% but I think Charlotte will be a tough matchup for them as currently they have allowed opponents to shoot just 40% overall which ranks third in the NBA. Ultimately I don't expect for these two teams to get out in transition and push tempo so I am looking for really good grinding defensive matchup.

Washington Wizards vs Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have been chomping at the bit to push some tempo as they have been bogged down in their first two games of the season facing slow tempo Utah and a Sacramento team that slowed the pace in their latest matchup. They will get exactly what they wish for tonight in a Washington Wizards team that likes to get up and down the floor and are currently averaging over 110 points per game.

Last season Denver was the most efficient offensive team the last few months of the season and in nonconference games they were 20-9-1 over the total. Currently they are averaging 81 attempts per game from the floor which ranks them 26th in the NBA, but look for this stat to go up significantly higher tonight in what should be a fast-paced affair. Washington should get out and want to run as well and last season were 19-10 in nonconference games going over the total. On top of that as an away underdog they were 21-11-1, and as an away team in general 32-15-1 going over the total. Although odds makers have set this total quite high expect for the two teams to put up a ton of points tonight.
