After an exciting matchup with the Golden State Warriors the Cleveland Cavaliers now travel to take on the Detroit Pistons in the second game of a back-to-back. Oddsmakers have come out making Cleveland a small road dog but to me, it looks like there is good value on backing Detroit.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland stormed back in the fourth quarter to beat the Golden State Warriors after being down most of the game. Tonight I believe this is a tough spot to back them grabbing the points considering Detroit matches up with them decently well and are desperate to get back on the winning track. On the season Cleveland is averaging 110.9 points per game which rank them fourth in the NBA and offensively they have not lost a step from last season.

Currently, the Cavaliers are shooting 46.2% from the floor and 40% from distance ranking them ninth and second in the NBA respectively. For Detroit to remain competitive in this contest they will have to limit Cleveland’s efficient three-points shooting along with the fact they average the second amount of attempts per game from distance. Although their offensive numbers are solid defensively Cleveland has lacked a little bit on the season allowing 39.2 opponent field goals made per game which ranks them 18th in the NBA. This has to do a bit with the pace they like to go, but tonight being their second game in two nights I believe gives Detroit a good opportunity to win this game.

 Detroit Pistons

Detroit has lost five games in a row and seven of their last 10 contests. I thought they played extremely well versus Golden State taking the Warriors to the final minutes and tonight I believe they can do the same with Cleveland. Although they have been losing and are currently slumping this is still a well coached good defensive team that should not only be able to stay within the number but get a victory tonight. Offensively Detroit has been less than stellar averaging just 98.4 points per game but they are shooting 44.9% from the floor which ranks in the middle of the league. What I like about them tonight is that they should be over the limit Cleveland’s tremendous ability to shoot the three as Detroit allows just 23.8 three-pointer attempts per game with opponents making just 8.2 of those ranking them fourth and third respectively in the NBA. With good defensive numbers across the board, Detroit should be able to keep Cleveland in check so I will lay the points.

Oddsmakers have come out making Detroit -6.5 home favorite. For my NBA pick I will back the Pistons in this spot.
