The Lakers will evaluate different centers as they look to replace DeMarcus Cousins, who tore his ACL while working out in Las Vegas and could miss all of next season.

ESPN's Kevin Pelton explained the severity of Cousins' injury: "In the past five years, no player has come back from an ACL tear in shorter than 11 months. The past two players to suffer ACL injuries in August (Dante Exum in 2015 and Brandon Knight in 2017) didn't return until training camp the following year."

There is no timeline yet and it seems highly unlikely that DeMarcus Cousins will suit up at all for the Lakers this season.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, "the Lakers are planning individual workouts to evaluate centers Joakim Noah, Dwight Howard and Mo Speights this week in Los Angeles."

Per Wojnarowski, another player that the Lakers will consider is Marcin Gortat. He also said that the team wants "a window into physical condition and mindset of a potential addition."

Dwight Howard was traded to the Grizzlies for CJ Miles and Memphis is expected to buy him out. He played just nine games for the Wizards last season because of a persistent gluteal injury but he was productive when he was on the court, averaging 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game.

Those numbers are way below his career averages of 17.4 points and 12.6 rebounds but they are still respectable stats and the Lakers are thin on frontcourt depth. If healthy, Howard can contribute.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dwight Howard when the Lakers contact him: <br /><br />“you could not live with your own failure, where did that bring you? Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium recently reported that there's mutual interest between Howard and the Lakers.

Joakim Noah spent nine seasons with the Bulls and two with the Knicks before joining the Grizzlies last season, averaging 7.1 points 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 16.5 minutes over 42 games (one start) last season. Marreese Speights played with the Guangzhou Long-Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association last season and while Marcin Gortat was waived by the Clippers in February, he averaged 10.8 points and 10.4 rebounds for the Wizards in the 2016-17 season.

Odds To Win The NBA Championship
(Courtesy of 5Dimes)

Los Angeles Clippers +390

Los Angeles Lakers +445

Milwaukee Bucks +635

Houston Rockets +725

Philadelphia 76ers +800

Golden State Warriors +1150

Utah Jazz +1300

Denver Nuggets +2000

Boston Celtics +2800

Portland Trail Blazers +4000

Indiana Pacers +5000

Brooklyn Nets +5000

Toronto Raptors +7000

New Orleans Pelicans +8000

San Antonio Spurs +8500

Miami Heat +9000

Dallas Mavericks +9500

Orlando Magic +22500

Sacramento Kings +25000

Atlanta Hawks +27500

Detroit Pistons +28500

Minnesota Timberwolves +30000

Oklahoma City Thunder +33000

Chicago Bulls +50000

Phoenix Suns +55000

New York Knicks +100000

Memphis Grizzlies +100000

Washington Wizards +100000

Cleveland Cavaliers +150000

Charlotte Hornets +200000
