For today's NBA preview we head to Los Angeles to take a look at the Clippers and Lakers for their win-loss totals this season. Oddsmakers have naturally opened up with the Clippers as a pretty high number and the Lakers a low one considering the last few seasons. Can the Lakers rebound under new coach Luke Walton and how far can the Clippers go in the playoffs?

 Los Angeles Clippers

Over the last four seasons, the Los Angeles Clippers have won 53, 56, 57, and 56 games but oddsmakers have them predicted on the low end of that spectrum this season. I can kind of understand the reasoning to set this total this low considering the age of the players and the fact they do play in the Western Conference. Still, with a healthy Blake Griffin back and if health does not become a concern for this team I believe they can go over this number on their way to the playoffs.  This is an extremely competitive team as well and although I doubt they will find their way past the Warriors or Spurs getting to about 55 wins seems likely.  They still look like at worst the third best team in the West which basically makes them the fourth or fifth best team in the NBA.  As well, with OKC being likely out of the title hunt the Clippers should be able to take advantage of that.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers won 17 games last season and have one of the youngest rosters in the NBA this season.  Bringing on Luke Walton I believe is a huge boost and the fact that Kobe has hung up his sneakers will only make room for the young guys to thrive.  They have a decent group of young guys like Russell and Randle along with future all start Brandon Ingram.  Oddsmakers have set the bar pretty high predicting across the board, seven more wins this season but I don't think that is too far a stretch for this team as long as Randle stays healthy.  They were arguably the worst defense in the NBA last season but what Walton will bring is an emphasis on bringing it on that end of the floor.  The winning mentality he brings from Golden State should rub off on this young team as well so for my NBA pick I like for them to land at around 27 wins so I will back the over with Lake show.
