Bragging rights in New York are up for grabs, as the Knicks and Nets square off inside the Barclays Center. Come check out our favorite NBA picks for tonight's matchup.

Odds Overview
The Nets are seven-point  NBA betting odds favorites at home against the Knicks. They've won two in a row, and although they haven't had all that successful of a season, they've still been much more respectable than this lowly New York team, one that's seemingly been tanking from the start.

If you see an edge on the total and want to make a play there, you can find the number at 193.5 right now. That kind of O/U would suggest we're going to be in for a relatively slow tempo to this game.

Brooklyn Nets
After the Nets had lost four straight, they could have mailed it in and kept their heads down, but instead they've earned back-to-back wins over quality competition. First they hung on to beat the Clippers by two at home, and then they notched an impressive road victory over the Raptors on Wednesday.

Those are two of the better teams in the NBA, so we have to be encouraged by what we've seen out of the Nets recently. They're 20-28 overall on the year, and in the Eastern Conference, they have every chance of making the playoffs. There's still a lot to play for if you're Brooklyn at this point, so this sets up as a nice spot on Friday.

There haven't been many constants for Brooklyn this season, but Jarrett Jack has done a great job as the starting point guard and Joe Johnson has been a rock too. Other than that, it's been kind of a mess, though the young Mason Plumlee has done some good things too. There's some talent here, but it hasn't been maximized, and the Deron Williams fiasco isn't helping much either.

New York Knicks
The Knicks lost their last time out, but they've been playing a little better overall lately. They're 5-3 over their last eight games, yet they still remain 10-39 on the season. Ouch.

It hasn't been pretty at all for New York, who seems to already be gearing up for next season. The Knicks are going to keep being careful with their most expensive asset in Carmelo Anthony, so he'll be sitting out games here and there when needed. Fans will be encouraged by the emergence of Langston Galloway, who has quickly established himself as a solid player, and Jason Smith has also played well in recent contests.

The mood around the Big Apple has been a little better in recent weeks, but tonight's game is still going to be a tough test for Jason Kidd's group. The Nets have been playing better too and will have the luxury of the home support. The Knicks, meanwhile, have been terrible on the road all year long and have just 10 wins to their name all season. However you want to spin the recent success, it's still mighty tough to trust this team.

NBA Pick
Seven points is kind of a lot to be laying on a team we don't entirely trust like Brooklyn, but we're doing it anyway. That just goes to show you how bad the Knicks have been and how little we want to side with them with our NBA picks on any given night.

Brooklyn has built up a little momentum with consecutive wins, and they're taking on a Knicks squad that's a dreadful 3-21 on the road so far this season. It doesn't get much worse than that.

Simply put, despite some struggles, the Nets are still a far better team than New York, and they should prove that on their home court tonight. We feel confident in Brooklyn's chances of winning by at least seven here this evening.
