A rivalry is starting to brew in the Bronx. For so many years of recent memory, the Nets and Knicks have both been horrible, but that is very slowly starting to change. Tonight they meet one another in BKN with the Nets as -2 favorites and a total of 213.

Gone are the years of Carmelo Anthony and his ball-stopping offense, and gone are the mistakes of another GM in a different era for both of these teams. This season is sort of a moving on year for both the Knicks and Nets, and they are generally doing a good job.

Despite injuries to their top two guards, the Nets are still fighting to stay around .500 at 11-15, and they have been a money-printing machine at 17-9 ATS overall. New York is above .500 for the first time in years and even though they probably won’t make the playoffs, it’s refreshing to see the Knicks compete.

That’s what makes tonight so interesting. It’s two teams fighting over the heart of America’s biggest city. The Knicks are well-entrenched as the favorite of New Yorkers, but the younger franchise could really do some damage to the Knicks’ market share if they get good again first, before the Knicks.

A big part of that is winning their head to head matchups. Earlier this season the Knicks blasted the Nets at the Garden, but things have changed a lot since that game. Tim Hardaway Jr. is still out for the Knicks, and for whatever reason, the Knicks have started to play a little faster.

Two of the Knicks’ last three games have been played at a pace of more than 100 possessions/game, and against a team like the Nets, this game might get up and down in a hurry. Even though this is barely a road game, the Knicks are giving up 109 points per game on the road this year, while the Nets are allowing 114 points per game at home.

Even though New York has struggled on the road, this game being held in Brooklyn means it’s almost a neutral site. I think that could help the offense of this one, especially for both teams.
