LeBron is back and he'll hope to lead the Heat to a sixth straight win tonight. Will Melo and the Knicks put up a fight or should we take Miami with our NBA picks?

Odds Overview

It all depends on which sportsbook you use, but practically every site we've run over has the Heat favored by 9.5 points. A couple here and there have a line of 10 points available, for those that think the Knicks will make things competitive tonight.

A total of either 201 or 201.5 has been posted. The UNDER has hit in the mark in three of the past four matchups between these Eastern Conference foes.

New York Knicks

The Knicks have dropped three straight and six of their last seven ahead of this South Beach visit. They're now 15 games under .500 (21-36 SU) and are five games out of the eighth seed in the conference.

New York took the Mavericks down to the wire on Monday but lost on a last-second winner from Dirk Nowitzki

Carmelo Anthony once again put on an offensive show, scoring 44 points on 14-of-29 shooting, including 7-of-12 from beyond the arc and a perfect 9-of-9 from the stripe. He added nine rebounds and four assists in the loss.

Tyson Chandler came through with 12 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks, but the Knicks were -14 when he was on the court. J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. were the only other New York players to score in double figures.

Things went from bad to worse after the game, with news of the arrest of Raymond Felton. He's considered probable to suit up tonight, but he's foolish to think this whole debacle won't act as yet another distraction for this disfunctional organization.

Miami Heat

Playing without LeBron James, who sat out with a broken nose, the Heat still took care of business in a 93-79 win over the Bulls this past weekend.

Miami was struggling in the first half, but found their groove after the break to pull away. The Heat were terrific defensively, holding Chicago to 35.8 percent shooting overall, and offensively they got huge games out of both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Wade took over and put up 23 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and a block, while Bosh scored a game-high 28 points (10-of-23 FG) to go with 10 rebounds and a block. Mario Chalmers (12 and 9) also stepped up.

Right now LeBron is probable to return to action after getting a whole week to recuperate and get his mind right to face the Knicks.

The Heat come in having won eight of their last nine, while going a very profitable 6-2-1 ATS during the run. That said, despite a 21-4 SU record at home this season, the two-time defending champions are just 9-16 against the spread.

NBA Pick

As bad as the Knicks have been this season, they've actually matched up incredibly well with the Heat over recent years. New York has gone 4-2 SU and ATS in the past six head-to-head meetings between these teams.

However, there's just no way we can go that route tonight.

The Knicks are struggling majorly, while the Heat look the part of champions. Miami has started to shorten their rotation in preparation for another deep playoff run and they're looked really locked in on both ends of the court.

With that said, we're backing a sixth straight victory for Miami, while recommending the favorites to cover the large number as well.

NBA Pick: Miami Heat -9.5
