This writer’s guess for the highest-scoring game on a busy Monday in the NBA? I give you Kings at Timberwolves. Can probably guess where I’d lean on the total.

Sacramento (31-28, 36-23 ATS) at Minnesota (28-31, 31-28 ATS)

Both Sacramento and Minnesota are sitting outside the Western Conference’s top eight and thus both badly could use a victory Monday night when they face off in the Twin Cities.

It’s the last meeting of the season between the clubs, with the Kings leading 2-1. They won both at home but lost at Minnesota on Dec. 17, 132-105. Andrew Wiggins led the Wolves with 17 points. He was one of a club-record nine players to score in double figures. Both Derrick Rose and Tyus Jones had double-digit assists. Buddy Hield had 21 to lead the Kings, who have lost their past three in Minnesota.

When the teams played Dec. 12 in California’s capital city, the final was 141-130 Kings. That was the third-highest scoring game in Timberwolves history. This won’t be that high scoring but may not be far off considering the Kings rank 26th in points allowed and the Timberwolves 19th.

Bet Wolves Or Kings?

The big question here is whether Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns plays. He has missed the past two as he’s in the concussion protocol after being in a car accident last week. The Kings won at the horrible Knicks without him Friday (the first missed game of Towns’ career) but lost 140-128 in Milwaukee the next night. Towns leads the team in scoring (23.1 ppg) and rebounding (12.0 rpg).

Dario Saric, who came over with Robert Covington from Philly in the Jimmy Butler trade, has been starting in Towns’ place. Covington has missed the past 22 games with a bone bruise on his right knee. He’s about the only top-notch defender on the team. Backup big man Gorgui Dieng has missed the past two for personal reasons.

Sacramento snapped a two-game skid – losing each by just two points at excellent teams Denver and Golden State – with a 119-116 upset victory in Oklahoma City on Saturday. Hield appeared quite jacked to play in the state where he starred in college (Oklahoma) with 34 points on 12-for-22 shooting to break out of a mini-shooting slump. It was Hield’s fifth 30-point game this season, the most by a King since DeMarcus Cousins had 26 of them in the 2016-17 season.

Rookie Marvin Bagley III had another double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Willie Cauley-Stein had 10 points and 11 rebounds and took a huge charge on Russell Westbrook with 11.5 seconds left. It was the first time the Kings won a season series from the Thunder since the franchise moved from Seattle. The Kings play as fast as anyone and rank ninth in the league in scoring.

  • Timberwolves are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Monday games.
  • Over is 22-8-1 in Kings last 31 vs. Western Conference.
  • Over is 11-4 in Timberwolves last 15 home games.
  • Over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.

Even if Towns doesn’t play, still like the "over" and the Wolves. They are tough at home (19-10 SU), while the Kings aren’t the same away (12-17 SU).
