Kevin Durant & DeMarcus Cousins Injury Update: KD Likely Out For Game 1 Of NBA Finals

Durant has been out with a strained calf since Game 5 of the second round series against the Rockets and the Warriors have won six straight games since he went down, including a four-game sweep of the Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals.

KD’s calf strain was feared to be an Achilles injury but no major news outlets confirmed that theory.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently talked to ESPN’s Nick Friedell about Durant’s potential return date:

“There’s a big range of how long it could be depending on how he responds and how bad the strain is. This one is taking a little bit longer than the ones he’s had in the past, but that’s OK. He’s coming along well and if he continues to improve at the rate he’s improving now, we’re confident that he’ll be back. We just don’t know when.”

DeMarcus Cousins tore his left quad in Game 2 of the first round series against the Clippers on April 15 and initially he was expected to miss the remainder of the playoffs. Durant and Cousins will be evaluated next Wednesday and there’s a decent chance they could come back this season, especially KD.
