The Pistons are coming off two very impressive wins over the Wolves and Clippers, and now they have a chance to put the icing on the cake if they upset the Warriors. However, Golden State is a -13 ½ favorite at home on Sunday, so is it time to take the points?

Detroit Pistons vs. Golden State Warriors -13.5

Despite the Warriors coming into this one as huge favorites, they have not been great ATS to start the season. This was somewhat expected after winning the championship last season.

The public and the sportsbooks are going to overvalue the Warriors early in the season, and with their horrific defense to start the season, it’s not surprising they are 1-5 ATS in their first six games.

The Pistons’ defense over their last three games has been very good and they are going to need to bring every bit of that effort tonight if they want to stay in this game. The problem with that is they are coming off a hard-fought win last night against the Clippers, so will they relax in a game they might not think they can win anyway?

There are just too many unknowns for the spread and my money, however, the total on the odds boards of 222 ½ is a very high number if the Warriors bring their defense. Last year Golden State allowed just 104 points per 100 possessions, compared to 111.7 allowed this year. That won’t continue as they get deeper into the season, and with the Pistons allowing just 102.4 points per 100 possessions, I’m expecting a lower scoring game tonight.

Detroit will do their best to avoid getting into an up and down game against the Warriors, and since last season, the Pistons are a combined 13-5 cashing the under on the second night of a back to back.
