As the Hornets travel to Boston to meet the Celtics, we take a look at their NBA Odds and the factors that will influence the outcome, so you can profit from our handicapper's insight.

The Charlotte Hornets travel from Washington to Boston for their meeting with the Celtics on Monday, April 11th.  The game is set to tip at 7:35 ET.  These teams played each other before the first of the year in Charlotte with Boston emerging with victories of 98-93 and 102-89.  That makes 4 consecutive wins and covers for the Celtics in this series in the last year.

A look at the Eastern Conference Playoff standings shows that these teams remain locked in a dogfight with Atlanta and Miami for the 3rd thru 6th positions in the upcoming NBA Playoffs.  Currently, Charlotte (46-34) trails Boston (47-33) by one game with 2 games to play.  Charlotte also trails Atlanta by 2 games for the 3rd position with the Celtics trailing the Hawks by one game.

The Boston Celtics have used their strong home court to make them one of the surprise teams in the NBA.  Currently, the Celtics are on an 18-2 SU run at home (compared to 10-12 SU on the road) in the last 42 games.  That run has boosted the Celtics’ home record to 27-12 SU for the season.  It has also translated to a pointspread record of 16-7 ATS as home favorite to (-9).  The Celtics had an opportunity to improve their position on Saturday, but lost on the road to contending Atlanta (118-107).  That drops the recent Celtics’ record to 7-4 SU, but just 2-7 ATS.  Under the leadership of young HC Stevens, the Celtics have become the highest scoring team in the Eastern Conference at 106 PPG.

As Charlotte was evolving from a losing team to a winning team, one of their main areas of improvement came as an unrested team.  In fact, Charlotte is now 8-0 SU unrested, averaging 111 PPG, while knocking down 44% of their triples in that role.   This is all part of a huge Charlotte turnaround, which has seen the Hornets go 22-8 SU of late, keyed by a 12-2 SU run on their home court.  Charlotte has won just 1 of their recent 4 games on the road.  That includes an early game yesterday against a Washington team, who had been eliminated from the playoffs.  Lacking full focus against an injured and unmotivated team, the Hornets lost 113-98 to the Wiz, setting up tonight’s current situation.  Offsetting Boston’s solid home record is the fact that the Hornets are 17-12 ATS on the road in this price range.

In this battle for potential home court advantage in the playoffs, I expect a highly competitive game between a pair of teams who, at this point in the season, are equally matched.  I invite you to put the NBA Odds in your favor and join me in my NBA pick on Charlotte tonight.
