Charlotte is coming off their best win of the season against the Golden State Warriors two nights ago, and even though Golden State was still without Stephen Curry in that one, it was an impressive win for the Clippers.

Hornets vs. Clippers

After their win against the Warriors, the Hornets are likely riding high as they head into Staples Center for a New Year’s Even matchup with the Clippers. Los Angeles is getting healthier after the return of Blake Griffin a few nights ago, and if Austin Rivers is able to play in this one, the Clippers might be able to put up some points in this one.

Either way I think the healthy frontcourt of the Clippers is going to give the Hornets some problems. Even with Dwight Howard patrolling the middle, the Hornets have a thin frontcourt right now, and if Howard isn’t playing well, the Clippers are going to own the paint.

That being said, the chances of both teams giving up some points are pretty high. The Clippers are giving up nearly 106 points per game in their last five and they are scoring over 118 points per game. Having Griffin back is only going to help that average, and on the other side, the Hornets have found their offense recently too.

The Hornets are averaging 106 points per game in their last five and they are giving up around 109 during that stretch. Considering the Clippers have cashed the over in four straight games, while the Hornets have cashed it in three of their last five, I like the over for our NBA Picks in this early evening start time in LA.
