On their fifth road game in a row the Los Angeles Clippers have a tough task in taking on the Detroit Pistons in Detroit. NBA odds have set this game making the Clippers a small favorite.

NBA Pick: Pistons +1.5
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

NBA odds have come out making Los Angeles a -1.5 favorite.  At some places it is also listed at a pick so for one of my selections today I am going to back the Pistons at the best odds to win this game straight up.  Detroit is 9-3 at home and should be fired up for a bit of revenge having lost to L.A. earlier in the season by five.

Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers are averaging 102.5 points per game while averaging 45.5% from the field, and allowing 100.8 points per game on 43.2% shooting from the field.  They had a nice win at Brooklyn just the other night but they let the Nets back in the game towards the end.  Tonight they face a Detroit team that is much more dangerous and can get hot real fast, if they allow the Pistons to roll a bit Detroit could win going away.  Offensively they have been solid as their shooting percentage ranks sixth in the league, but this statistic becomes interesting because the rank 27th in points in the paint, and 20th in three pointers made per game. What we have with them is a team that will run pick and rolls to death and settle being efficient just outside the paint. Defensively the rank as one of the better teams in the league overall but far from elite status. What could be a problem is on the boards where they allow opponents 55.5 per game which ranks 27th in the league.

Detroit Pistons
Detroit is averaging 99.2 points per game while shooting 42.3% from the field, and allowing 97.4 points per game and 45.3% shooting from the field. On both sides of the ball their statistics go up at The Palace shooting 43.9% from the field and allowing under 45% from the floor.  Offensively you know what you are going to get with Stan Van Gundy, a team that is going to get up a lot of shots from inside to the three point line. They are averaging 88.3 field goal attempts per game which ranks third in the NBA and 26.3 shots beyond the arc which ranks 11th.  Defensively they will need to get better but they do rank sixth in scoring defense and they hit the glass ranking second in the league mostly thanks to Andre Drummond. He has been a beast on the glass averaging 16.4 boards per game while scoring 17.6 points.  While Detroit tries to get up a lot of shots they have been decent in limiting opponent attempts at just 82.4 per contest which ranks seventh in the league.

I think Detroit matches up very well with the Clippers so for one of your NBA picks today I suggest backing them in this spot. This game should be around a pick at most places by tipoff but o matter the odds I like the Pistons to win this game by over five points.
