Spurs travel to OKC tonight and NBA betting odds board placed San Antonio as a road favorite for this game. Can Thunder bother enough San Antonio and cover the spread? Check inside our NBA pick.

San Antonio Spurs (-7) at OKC Thunder 8:05 ET TNT
The San Antonio Spurs travel to OKC for this Tuesday night, 8:05 ET tip, as televised on TNT.  Before the season began, it would not have been surprising to see this game as a battle for the No. 1 seed in the West.  Each of these teams, however, has suffered more than their share of injuries this NBA season.  Major difference between the two is that the Spurs have put their injuries behind them, while OKC continues to battle the injury bug.  These two have faced off twice this season with the Spurs winning 130-91 on their home court, while OKC was a 114-106 victor on this court as 6 point home dog on NBA odds. That, incidentally, is part of the Thunder’s 6-1 ATS log as home dog.  Looking at the flip side of that, consider that the Spurs are 9-4 ATS as road chalk of 7 or more points.

OKC stands 42-35 SU, as they battle New Orleans for the 8th playoff spot in the West.  They currently lead the Pelicans by ½ game in the win column.  Despite their need for wins, OKC is currently on a negative run of 1-5 SU ATS, which began with that 130-91 loss in San Antonio.  Missing from their lineup tonight will be superstar Durant, Ibaka, Collison and Roberson. Quite simply, Russell Westbrook cannot propel the Thunder to victory on his own.

San Antonio is the defending NBA Champ.  The aging veterans are playing their best ball of the season.   They are currently on a run of 17-3 SU, 16-4 ATS, highlighted by a recent 7-0 SU ATS run.  In those games, which began with the 130-91 victory against OKC, the Spurs have outscored the opposition by an average of 108-88.  It is clear they have overcome early season injuries to key players, Parker and Leonard.  As they enter tonight’s play, the Spurs are 51-26 SU, good for 6th place in the Western Conference playoff queue.  But, they trail Houston (as well as Memphis, Portland and LAC) by no more than 2 games for the 2nd spot in the West and the right to play the fading Dallas Mavericks in the first round, rather than any of the other 4 teams with whom they are currently battling.

This is clearly a battle of two teams headed opposite directions. While the Thunder seem to be faltering under the pressure with holding onto the 8th spot in the playoffs, the motivation of playing for the 2nd seed has lit a fire under the Spurs. Follow the momentum as the Spurs win and cover their 8th straight game, all of which have been by a margin of 12 or more points. Add San Antonio to your NBA picks tonight.
